Hi all,
Last week end, I changed the engine oil and oil filter in my (new to me) Land Rover Series 3 2¼Diesel from 1979. The workshop manual (and user manual as well) states that the total capacity when changing the oil filter is 6.85 litres. Yet I poured 7 litres and the level is still not at the maximum on the dipstick (even after waiting for more than 24 hours for the oil to settle). I noticed I have the “optional crankcase sump”: Click image to enlarge (as opposed to the standard version). Does anyone know if this so called “optional sump” i supposed to be of larger capacity than the standard version? I am wary to pour some more oil, I wouldn't want to overfill, yet I am also concerned that the oil level remains lower than the maximum.. “A Land Rover immobilized is a moral defeat for the driver and bad publicity for the vehicle, […] it's up to you to do justice to your Land Rover!” - Land Rover Driving Technique. -- 2009 2.4 Puma Defender 90 SW 1979 Land Rover Series 3 88" |
