Fault code P101
Hi, I’ve got a 2013 defender 90. The engine management light has come on and I’ve had the diagnostics linked up. It’s coming back with code P101 which he says is a faulty mass air flow sensor. Does this sound about right and if so where’s the best place to purchase one from. I’m UK based. Also is it easy enough to do yourself? Thanks

The MAF sensor is very easy to access as it's attached to the outlet pipe on the lid of the airbox. It's secured by one small Torx bolt:

If that's what the fault code says then it's worth giving it a clean as a first step to see if that makes any difference.

It's also worth checking the condition of the wiring to it as they have a habit of fraying due to the long, unrestrained cable to it:

If the wiring is damaged then you can buy repair sections from the site shop and details of how to fix it can be found here:

If you do need a new sensor then the part number is LR019830. A genuine part from Land Rover is around £170 but you can buy OEM quality replacements for under £70 from the likes of Island 4x4:

Hi. Just thought I’d update you. So we (my husband) 🤪😂😂 changed the mass air sensor and the light was still on. He then checked all the hoses and found a split in one. Temporary repair and light now off. 😊😊😊 Happy days. Thanks for your help.
