I thought they were, if anything, slightly shorter as they're pretty soft (compared to a standard 90)

I thought police spec springs were standard height but slightly heavy duty to cope with the weight of all the police kit in RRโs. With no weight in the vehicle they will give a slight lift (not compress as much).

If you have the spring rates and heights you should be able to do a like for like comparison? Assuming they are new.

Great spring resource - http://www.red90.ca/rovers/springinfo.html - The RRC springs are a great Ol' Skool change to a 90, used to be all the rage before OME, Bearmach, and other after market springs arrived and folks did use standard length shocks with them.

My 90 has run these when I used to do some challenge events. Gave a slight lift but I still ran it with standard dampers all round. Worked well on the front to compensate having the winch etc on the front. Was a cheap solution for me at the time. 1987 90 king cab, 200tdi

Can share the part numbers. Have installed NRC4305 on front and NRC4304 on rear of a 90 Td5, They give about 1" lift (perhaps a bit more on front). Standard shocks should still work fine. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

๐๐cracking info.... With other vehicles to spoil I can't justify the expense of ome etc... So I thought after a bit of research I'd go along the rr classic spring route with some new standard shocks... |

It is not my defender, but he claimed that the ride is a lot softer than the stock CSW springs (but he has +2 terrafirma shocks).
The owner is more keen on articulation, and he got a lot more articulation, because the spring under load compresses further. Wheel that lifts is limited by the shock. His added bonus is because the spring is longer, he did not need spring relocators anymore. On my Defender, 2012 CSW, I replaced the rear springs with NRC2119. It has improved the ride quality, although not as much as I expected. I always run empty, and the CSW has progressive springs at the rear, so suspect the initial spring rate of the original CSW spring might have already been close to that of NRC2119. Note that the defender sits a bit lower with these springs. I added an isolator, but the rear is about 1/2" lower than stock. I also have a set of 572315 springs. These are the softest springs, and ran them for a short while at the back of my old 90HT. But at that time I did not have spacers, and the 90 was sitting very low. They are currently loaned to my nephew 2.4 90HT, but we added isolators and +1" spacer. The 90 is still sitting slightly lower. Ride is very soft however. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

Much appreciated info๐๐.. I'll be running 2119 and 4304.....im not sure whether to add +2 shocks or standard height... I've not long read about a fella running the same springs has ill be running with standard shocks.. So I'll probably go along with that.. Tbh I've not got a clue what I'm doing๐๐.. Only thing I kniw is whatever I fit can't be any worse than the 20yr old set up I have atm
