.rar files

Hi ive downloaded a certain parts program and its in .rar format and id like to know what people do with these types of files to get them running

Use a program like winrar to merge then into a useable file , not used them for a while but from what I remember it was easy . 2011 Defender XS 110 Station Wagon - Rejected
2008 Discovery 3 XS Auto (Gone)
1997 Discovery ES Auto 300TDI (Traded in on a flat bed)

Download winrar here and install it. Once it runs click on trial/shareware. Once its installed you can double click the file you have downloaded and extract the files.

7zip is very good and completely free.

Instal, then rightclick on the .rar file and decompress to whatever location you want to.

.rar like .zip, .tar etc are container files that store other files in a compressed form to save space on your disk or traffic on the Internet. So there should be another kind of file type, say .doc, .pdf or .exe within that container, which is what you really want. If you have more then one .rar and they are numbered just click on the lowest number and the unrar program will do the rest for you.

Be careful with executing files (like .exe) though, they could contain a virus or other malware!
