What was the outcome of that, Andy? Did he actually sue and it get to court? Did he win? Darren

So my first 90 was stolen within 3 months of ownership and 15 yrs later i have bought another (took nearly that long for me to get over it) so what are the best security enhancements? I am thinking trackers/GPS transmitters, as any alarm type solution is too easy to overcome so if they are going to nick it then so be it but tracking it down has to be the best option these days?

Also if your going to do something sneaky and clever, don’t plaster it all over a public forum like this.
Thieves are all over sites like this looking for info.
They’re probably members too😔😔 2002 td5 90 county hardtop

Beware buying stuff from e bay for defenders from private sellers .....you might get a bargain............ But they also get your address!now im doing it Embarassed defender ownership makes you paranoid Big Cry Big Cry WE need to spread good ideas around somehow!or do we keep everything to ourselves?

Landover security have made a bit of money out of selling security products but some might argue they have made the thieves smarter and aware of typical anti theft tricks.....I personally think if i was nicking a car and it wouldn't start the first place I would look would be the inertia switch! I dont know what the answer is to this security conundrum but i do know without the defender 2 forum i would be driving around thinking that my defender had a pretty good stock alarm system......and how mad is that thought!

I can highly recommend the Optimill removable steering wheel boss and lock
The Arrdercase pedal lock
The Xeng ignition barrel lock
Layers is probably the sensible approach, relocate live and earth cables, inline fuses to indicators, relocate OBD, bonnet cable guard, relocate bonnet cable all do all you can to slow them down and put them off yours.

I didn't know they were quite so steal-able when I bought mine,

Over the time I now have...

CCTV
Pull up post
Steering lock
Pedal lock
tracker
can block in with other cars

Even so almost each morning I open the curtains and hope, A) its still there and B) the doors, bonnet etc are still on it...

So I'm now building a workshop and I will leave it in their also when not being used (alarmed)

Only so much you can do with most power tools now cordless grinders etc... if they want it... they will

I've mentioned it before, but if you have a wireless house alarm system add an extra wireless PIR, paint it black and place it in the driver's footwell.

Very difficult to see until the door is opened or the vehicle is broken into. Put the PIR on a separate alarm partition or zone so it can be armed whilst the house is occupied.

Just need to remember to unarm the zone or partition before opening the door Whistle

Also, once disarmed, best to leave the PIR in the house as many systems will trigger an alarm if the communication signal from the wireless PIR is lost.

After reading some of the concerns about security on here, I decided I needed an expensive security device to save loosing my cherished defender.

So bought a 70k E53 AMG to block it in.... hope that does the trick Thumbs Up

You think 70k is a lot on a deterrent, I moved to a quiet, low crime part of France and spent hundreds of thousands on my house just to keep the DC safe. Fortunately Mrs Grenadier decided to join me.

That may, or may not, be true...... Whistle Thumbs Up Monsieur Le Grenadier

Is the black/silver number plate part of the deterrent too, intended to make it more likely they'll get pulled over? Rolling with laughter
