Not adaptations, but possibly some engine limp mode after some faults. With battery out, faults are cleared and so the limp mode. Both can return later. Partly faulty MAF of sticking turbo wastegate are not uncommon for TD5. "Drobek" = The Small One - Discovery 2, "Blufínek" = The Blue Thing - Defender 130, and for me at least Ford Mondeo

As above... faults cleared due to now voltage and runs better. 2010 Range Rover MkIII Autobiography Super Charged (Idris)

Confirm the suspicion by plugging it up to Nanocom at the point where you think its running at its lower power, see what faults you have. Insta: @thebenjordan4x4

A duff battery will cause the alternator to constantly keep charging too which will add more constant load to the motor all be it little.
On my old battery I was getting around 14.4v charging now it’s around 14.7 / 14.8v with the battery changed. I’m not sure if the TD5 alternator is the same design as the TDCi but when up to voltage on the Puma it free spools which means no load / little load on the engine. The added load is going to reduce performance in a small amount, very similar as to when the AC compressor is active if fitted. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

Unfortunately no the TD5 alternator is a simple affair albeit with the vacuum pump sat on the front of it and it is loading the engine constantly. So is the Puma alternator on a clutch type mech like an AC pump?
Having just replaced two 10+ year old batteries I can attest to the difference the new ones make as it revs a little lower at idle, so less voltage required and so less load on the engine. |
