Beware that even though my breather was relocated I still got water back in the tank again this winter, tank drained, new filter and a couple of parts changed on the fuel system.
I asked the dealer what LR were going to do as I did not want this constantly happening, LR reply was that the Mod had been done so its all OK. So even though the Tech Bulletin had been done its not completely fixed it. |

ottons salisbury put the fuel mod on mine in august (original pipe had snapped) not had any trouble since...fingers crossed

Mine still have the original configuration (not problem until now)

Hi Eduardo, I'm not sure if it is mandatory for the dealers to change the breather location before sale, but one dealer did do this before selling their cars. But they will definetely modify it if you need to have it modified. |

In rainy UK and elsewhere, the problem seems to be water ingress; here it is dust (amaizignly a lot in the cargo area). I guess mine wasn`t undersealed Puma 110" SW

I am slightly in the same boat but problem is I took my own sample from the filter with about 50cc of water.
No engine light or obviose faults as yet. Can I take the sample to the dealer and get them to check out and clean the tank and check the commonrail or would he question my taking the sample based on a warning from this forum? From about 3000km mine has had an extended hose on the fuel breather line (goes up behind the indicators). The most water I've got out when checking the filter would be less than 1/4 of a teaspoon or about 5ml and that was after at least another 3000km. (or about 6 months). 110 2.4TDCi

Hi MK. I have the same problem as you. Sometimes there is so much dust that my cargo area looks like the Atacama Desert. One time I had the aircon on recirculate. I think that might have caused a low pressure in the cabin. There were two small holes in the body work where the diesel filler cap is attached to the body and also a gap where the brake and tail light wires enter the bodywork behind the rear speakers. I siliconed them so now I must test the dust proofing again.
Is it possible that some of the water in the diesel problems could be as a result of water in the diesel tanks of the service stations and not only from the breather pipes? Also those of you who find 40 - 50 cc of water in the diesel filter. I am under the impression that our diesel tanks have stand pipes in them. If that is so then there must be a lot of water in the diesel tank if you are finding so much water in the filter. Cheers Anthony |

Also for us the dust inside the cabin is a headache. My wife went the last weekend to the south (very dry there) and the defender come back with at least 2 kg of dust inside (in the seats, the dash, the floor and anywhere). I will take at least 1 complete day to clean it ... Definitely defender is not dust proof ! My main concern about the breathing is that we ussully travel to the south during winter (quite rainy) and we do not like to have problems with water in the tank.
