I’ve only seen 2 since the launch and both were travelling in the opposite direction to me.

I've seen a few 90s now. Haven't seen a brown one yet though!

Is there a source for those figures?
No problem - just curious as the Midlands stuff, mostly Coventry Telegraph, I read seems pretty well informed/reasoned.
The business case wouldn't fly at 50,000 and was amended to 100,000. In the last year that appears to have been dropped as a figure and talk has been about a lower more achievable figure. I suspect that's because orders and sales have never got anywhere near that run rate. |

I’ve seen quite a few in W and NW London, for past couple of weeks I see at least 1-2 a day. And the interesting thing is the most of them are driven by female drivers. 3.0L MHVE D200 S Pangea Green+Black Pack

One actually chose to park next to mine today....
Makes a change, most car drivers general keep their distance..........mind you, they could have cleaned it first, made mine look positively sparkly....... Click image to enlarge |

Building and selling are two very different thing.......
Click image to enlarge I wonder what is going to happen as the car industry gets closer to 2030 and they wont be allowed to sell the standing stock. Will there be a country in the middle of nowhere that will suddenly start driving on the left and will require lots of cheap cars...... |

I’d have thought all they’ll do is register all the cars before the deadline. It’s a ban on new cars, which I’m thinking means newly registered, there won’t be a ban on selling second car/used cars. Plus this insanity isn’t shared by the rest of the world so a manufacturer, say JLR, will still be churning out diesel and petrol cars up to and beyond the deadline.
If I survive that long I’ll deffo be buying one of the last/newest diesels. Might even get around to being a Defender! |

I know I’m looking for them, but they’re not an uncommon sight - also seen a few pulling cattle and plant trailers now.

I am confident that the date will get pushed back to 2035 as we approach 2030 - the country's electricity infrastructure is a million miles away from being ready for this Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

Yes, but if MY20 ended in September 2020(?) that would mean that there's somewhere in the region of 56,000 unregistered and now out of date MY20 new Defenders sitting in fields somewhere? On the 100,000 built - knock off 6k a month for Q4 and that means around 82,000 built to end of Q3. At end of Q3 total sales were 28,354. So that would be over 53,000 unsold. That would mean for every Defender sold there were nearly 2 unsold (1.89). |

I must admit that I have been a bit confused on the Defender sales numbers. According to the official JLR video released with their 2021 upgrades (incl. the V JLR claims that the Defender is now for sale in more than 100 countries and paid orders for the new defender for the past 12 months leading up to JAN 2021 is close to 68 K vehicles. I believe this a good record with Defender now hitting “critical mass”?
Cheers! |

Round my way it feels like every third car is a new Defender. The local estate agent has even got a liveried one!
Even before reading this thread I was thinking they must be selling like hotcakes. 2011 130 Utility Body 2005 110 Van |
