I mounted mine under the number plate light plinth. No drilling to body and only thing that was modified was the plinth, which is cheap to replace. Part RRC8693 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

OK - so the other problem I have is I can't seem to access the cavity where the reversing light wires go.
If I take off the trim inside the back door, removing the speaker etc. I just find the wire to the brake light and numberplate light. It seems there is a separate boxed in section underneath that which must contain the wiring for the reversing light and rear nearside (passenger) indicator? From underneath, looking backwards with my head in the wheelarch by the exhaust, it looks like a plastic panel covers that lower section of the rear quarter. I'm now thinking I will have to drill between these two cavities in the rear to allow for two wires to come up, off the reverse light feed and into the interior trim. Then I'll snip the RCA connector off the camera so I can get the wire through the hole where the washer jet goes, and reattach it with finest screw terminal chocolate block before it mates to the cable from the head unit in the headlining by the sideways folding seats... |

There are a couple of screws that you can remove to take out the plastic plate you can see in the wheel arch.
Another option that I did was to remove the two screws by the reversing light lens at the back of the car. The light fitting comes out giving you access. Inside the vehicle, there is a rubber grommet behind the speaker cover on the nearside. It is below the grommet to the rear light, the ones the wires come up in from under the floor. Push your cable down through the existing grommet and you'll be able to fish the end our through the reversing light hole. Snip the wire but no terminal chocolate boxes needed. Terminal blocks have no place on a car. Buy something like this to crimp the wires together. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Silverline-457054...&psc=1 |

Hello
Does this help? https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic46246.html?highlight=camera I did this a few years ago on mine but have since installed a double din unit although the camera still rests in the same place. It may help? Thanks |

Thanks Stacey007 - I read your posts a while ago and it was what got me thinking.
I think I want my camera mounted in the middle above the rear window so that if I put a bike rack on the towball, it can see over the top of it (if you follow). |

Thanks - I'll have another look. Terminal blocks may have no place on a car, but then these are not normal cars! The ones I used already are in the back of the dash behind the head unit, I'm in no hurry to get them out and change them. For one thing I don't think I have enough skin on my knuckles to do it twice. |

That’s what I have done for the same reason you mentioned. I also wired mine to a live feed so that I can view the camera when I want to and not just when reversing. |
