Hi Iguana, I've recently bought a 130 myself (High five),td5 though. Just wondering about insurance myself and have had the same issue with them not being able to find the exact description. I also imported mine from Hong Kong so that's something else for them to scratch their noggins at. Just wondering what security features etc you mentioned to get such a cheap price? I've had some shocking quotes π Cheers bud |

Hi Tom,
at present my 130 doesn't have any 'proper' security, so nothing I could mention to the insurance company. But it does have a a battery isolator key (Which I remove) and a secret switch. SO my cheap quote was down to my age (55), lack of any points or claims and probably my location (low crime) . Mine is likely to go up once the conversion is done, as the value will go up and I will also re-classify from Ambulance to camper - but will do that once the work is all ffinished Iggy/Ieuan β------------------------ Vehicles: - 1992 Ex-Mountain Rescue Ambulance 130/200tdi - 2005 Discovery 3 S - 2001 BMW 535i V8 |

Thank you for the swift reply,
I had a cutout switch in a bag in my 90 for years and never got around to fitting it whilst I had it. I'll hopefully get it fitted in the new 130 instead. It ended up being way too expensive for me to get cover, I'm 32 with full no claims, I couldn't believe the quotes they were throwing at me honestly π . I've ended up insuring under my father's name and put me down as a named driver, Β£720 after a bit of nudging. Apologies for the late reply matey. |
