Just wondered what people were getting mpg wise on a motorway journeys?

Well, strongly depends on Engine spec, speed, and weight load at least.
I have done 21 to 17,5 mpg on motorways. |

Mine (D300) did between 25 and 29 mpg on a decent run of 4 sectors on Saturday. Manchester-Leeds-Chesterfield-Baslow-Manchester.

D240 110 averaging 32mpg on fast A roads - can only do 3 miles along a motorway here from local LR Dealer to next M9 junction without breaking lockdown rules so haven’t bothered trying to see what the mpg at 70mph is like but expect around 28-30mpg. It’s got better since I haven’t been using the remote start/preheater before my essential weekly 16 mile trip to the nearest supermarket Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |

My nearest motorway is a few hours away but from what it gives on some of the straighter bits of road up here I’d expect to see over 30mpg if cruising at 70mph. |

![]() I've done 40mpg - (over 600 miles on a tank) no disrespect meant. I do to a point like the new model. It just surprises me that progress in economy doesn't really seem to have come along all that much in reality. ![]() |

Well it has to a point. My previous D4 and my new 110 DX D300 do very similar MPG, but the new 110 is much quicker than the D4. If I had driven the D4 at the

Wait til the PHEVs come along! Borrowed a P400e RRS the other day and it had averaged 109 mpg over the 1,000 miles it had on the clock…! Cheers, David

For PHEVs I’d be interested in what they get when just on petrol or diesel. Most of my miles would normally be clocked up in long hauls and the plugged in bit would be gone way before I’d even drunk my first coffee.

Presumably about the same as the p300 - not that great.
They only really make sense if you regularly have at least some journeys that are within, or not vastly beyond, the EV range I guess. For motorway miles my guess is that the diesels will be most economical probably, once you use up your bit of “free” EV range Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |
