Was looking through a number of the latest spy shots of the G-Wagen 4x4 Squared 2022 (which, apart from the arches I actually like the look of) and noticed something creeping into the corner of one of them. If I'm not entirely mistaken, is that not the nose and front wheel arch of the New Defender I see to the left of the photo below?
Click image to enlarge If it is, it begs the question why it's there? Is it there by complete chance? Perhaps. Is it there to act as a recovery vehicle if the G Wagon breaks down? I doubt it. Or is is there because the Merc angineers are testing their forthcoming incarnation of the G Wagen against the new Defender. I think it may be. Noticeable that the bumper is a lot smaller and tidier than the Grenadier offering and the slab front remains despite protestations by LR that that wasn't possible under current EU regs. Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Like Grenadier I'm not sure about those wheel arches, maybe the camouflage doesn't help. Truck looks good though. Pretty sure I'll not see many on the roads on Lincolnshire but there's bound to be oodles of them parked up in Kensington and Chelsea. Defender 90XS SW

I like the old G better than this one as it was less ‘look at me’. I do like what it can do and doff my cap at how it stays true to the original shape. 1951 80" S1 2.0

I will be the one to throw the negative comment into this one. It looks dated, front end looks like 2 different cars, bumper and grille? That said it has some kubelwagen dna in there somewhere if you like that sort of thing. I am assuming it still has a fair bit of development in the looks department to go. Almost looks like its got an aftermarket lift kit on it. 90S D250 fuji and loving it.

It will be the fuel station in Arjeplog, Sweden I expect where most of the winter development work is done so where all the prototypes tend to go and get fuel so probably coincidental. Had some fun up there in the past! 1987 90 king cab, 200tdi

Ditto DSN's explanation, the photographers hang out at the fuel stations as the development cars are not moving!
