'IVA' Testing / Paperwork Delays
Hi, I'm new to the group and await delivery / collection of a D240 110, which was a discounted cancelled order. Enabling me to queue jump straight into an immediately available vehicle.
The dealership have told me there's a delay with the VRA (I presume Vehicle Registration Authority) with some new car registration checks due to Brexit. Apparently it's not happening to all new cars, but some get flagged for additional checks.

Does anyone know anything about this? or are they;
a) delaying my sale until April targets,
b) delaying my sale until 2021 tax year.
c) am I being too cynical...?

[EDIT] I've been informed it's an IVA (Individual Vehicle Assessment), which is occuring on some vehicles and delaying the hand over and registration process.
[UPDATE] The dealership have found a car without an IVA request associated with it, which is a better spec. I just have to switch from Pangea to Tasman, which I'm quite happy with tbh. So all being well I should get it on Monday / Tuesday next week.

Any manual process through DVLA currently is taking an age, I have to re-register all of our pre-loved rapid response vehicles as NHSV taxation class and what normally takes a few weeks is taking months.

DVLA seem to have forgotten how to answer their phones, but I suspect they are fed up of customers moaning

Same with a new MV Augusta I ordered back in Feb, the dealer is so old school its an all paperwork process for registration, a month later and still no new bike Big Cry Ride like you stole it!!
If I’m not on a bike it’s because only a 4x4 will do…

Hi,

My salesman has two he’s trying to get through the system this month but he tells me that LR have had a request to release cars in with VOSA since December but it’s not moving forward.

If he had hair, I think he’d be tearing it out!

I waited 5 weeks for my new one to get the paperwork it was at the dealers and I was being told the paperwork wasn’t released. Then out of the blue I received an email saying my car had left the factory at which I blew a fuse and called the dealer as I’d seen my car at the dealer. They were ok and said thats good the paperwork is on its way !

Seems like it could actually be factory backlog but I always thought once its been build its bar coded and once scanned this starts the paperwork and automatically sends what’s required so to trigger the registration process....

Hopefully you wont be waiting too long Thumbs Up

Pretty sure the registration is all online for dealers and semi-automated. Mine arrived at the dealer on 23rd December and I picked it up on the 30th - I very much doubt the DVLA would have been doing manual stuff over that period.

Gents,

The snag is not the DVLA or the AFRL (Automatic First Registration & Licenceing ) system.

It is a document (electronic?) from VOSA to allow the dealer to use AFRL.

Something to do with the legacy 4-pots.

3.0 vehicles should be O.K.

Contacted DVLA today to enquire about my new vehicle registration that was applied for on a V55 via post back in February, they said its 6 to 8 weeks and probably longer if its not a straight forward application. They wont even confirm receipt.

For automated services DVLA are superb but where manual intervention is needed DVLA, you need to get your act together!!

I need my new vehicle Big Cry Ride like you stole it!!

you'll find very little staff there which is the issue.............they simply can't cope with the workload they are being expected to undertake

I know, they are in difficult times as are we all. But... (and this is my opinion that will differ vastly) companies that can trade legitimately are trying to exist allowing everyone to pay their bills by raising their bar and changing what they do, they have to survive and keep people employed and their valued customers happy.

I deal with DVLA on a daily basis and feel that they throw every excuse as to why they cant rather than changing to accommodate the situation. This is a problem that affects everyone worldwide. DVLA as a government body is as good as guaranteed so it feels as though they don't have to adapt to survive or keep us happy.

We British are grafters, historically leading the world to be better for all. Lets bring everything home and make Brittan great again, but don't let the Government control anything.

I will get off my soap box... Ride like you stole it!!

Leam,

Why are you registering on a V55? Your dealer should be using AFRL (unless it’s something unusual - I had to go manual for the age related plate on my ‘44 Willy’s MB).

It took less than 2hrs to register SWMBO’s D90 on her private plate using the online service.

The 4-pot registration issue isn’t DVLA as I posted above ....it’s VOSA.

Sadly they only register a few new units a year, really old-school dealer who relies on pidgeon post.

I could have registered it myself on our AFRL system but they loose the registration unit and I would'nt have got the deal

Its even more of an issue as not being on AFRL, the dealer isn't entitled to hold V53 Registration Number stickers, so on application the V5 comes directly to me, I then inform the dealer by return of the allocated registration number so they can make the plate.

This is a lesson I wont be repeating because my insurance company insured it on the chassis number for 14 days, after that they want the registration number which obviously I am unable to provide so I had no choice other than cancelling it. Better than insuring a vehicle two or more months earlier than I actually have it

What a pickle...! all because of the poor manual service provided by DVLA Ride like you stole it!!
