A 125mm angle grinder has more than enough power to grind a drill.
The problem is that standard grinding discs for angle grinders are too coarse for the application, and if you have just fitted it, they normally vibrate a bit because they are made so cheaply.

Yes, you have the option to fit a sandpaper backing disc. Then you have a wide range of sandpaper grades to fit. Unsure which paper grit size would give you the best result, but my guess 180-360 would be the range to test. You would be able to get a good sharp drill this method, but you would probably also be going through a lot of sandpaper discs. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing
