Footwells and Anti Rust treatment - advice on process sought
Dear all,
Now the weather is looking better I am planning on removing the 2 floor panels from my 2003 TD5. There is what appears to be superficial surface rust on the panels and the bolts are all starting to corrode. I have removed the matting some time ago and brushed the area with a wire brush.

I have anti-rust treatment and all the correct screws, bolts, nuts and foam strips. I am planning on removing the nuts etc, taking the floor panels out, treating with the anti-rust paint, installing the foam strips and replacing.

I have the following questions:
1 - any thoughts on possible problems - I expect the nuts etc will be difficult to remove - but could I drill stubborn ones out?
2 - I was planning on painting the panels and bits of the bulkhead I can see when all of the matting is removed but not painting the seat box (as there is no corrosion I can see). Any thoughts on this?

I am doing this on my driveway, using axle stands and chocks etc.
Any advice, comments, much appreciated.
Neil

Just in the process of doing this on my 03.

I've cleaned back, prepped a few bits for welding etc.

My process is using the following:

1 Treat cleaned metal / rust with Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80
2 Paint with Bilt Hamber electrox
3 cover seam with Bilt Hamber Dynax Seam
4 Top Coat with Buzzweld CIO
5 Colour with Buzzweld LR Coach Enamel

Heres the current stage of the process

Lesson I learnt is take the time to wire wheel it all back.

I've finally got around to starting to paint mine. I'm doing a test of Bilt Hambler on the drivers side and Buzzweld stuff on the passenger side.
