Have just found the solution for my car. I needed to set the language and keyboard to “English (Australia). It seems the default is English (UK). SETTINGS>ALL>LANGUAGES AND KEYBOARDS. Hope that helps someone else. ■ MY21 110 D300 SE ■ MY17 Jaguar F-Pace ■

Hi,

On initial boot, there is a dialogue at the bottom of the screen “Set up your vehicle”. I selected this and “English British” and cancelled a route using voice control thereafter.

I’ll try other commands later.

Mine was set to English (United Kingdom), changed to English (US). I gave it a command and it seemed to accept it.
I hope that it doesn't change some of the voice prompts. My wife gets a kick out of "turn and proceed onto the motorway" (vs highway or interstate as is common here).

Yes, a bit of an obscure one. I had passed that setting a number of times, never associated the keyboard type with setting physical location for navigation. ■ MY21 110 D300 SE ■ MY17 Jaguar F-Pace ■

Its been a couple days and i needed to find a place. Pressed the button, spoke the appropriate commands..... and its lobotomy time again.
Checked the keboard/language settings. They had recerted to English(UK). Reset then to English (US). Yea! Its working again.
Well, until it gets turned off and upon restart reverts back to English (UK).

I'm finding that this system really, really likes its defaults and does NOT want to keep the settings you enter (auto high beams will not stay selected). Oh well, at least I know how to deal with it now.

Yes I've found the same with defaults. Although the navigation keyboard on mine is thankfully still working. I regularly have to re-check my 'wake word' and automatic access height setting. Eventually software updates should eliminate these problems. MY21 110 D300SE DEFENDER

I found that the language would keep returning to English (UK) after being set to English (USA). I'd reset the center display to the correct language and after each shut down it would return to English (UK).
Completely by accident I discovered yet another language setting in the dash display. I set that to to English (USA) and verified that the language setting in the center display was English (USA). After doing this miraculously the Defender seems to have retained its settings, so far for several days. Hopefully this is the fix.

As a side note, that JLR would not make one language selection to be a global system command is a pretty big fail. Why you would need to set a language in multiple locations is a serious head scratcher

I've used the voice nav thing a few times already - I like it, it works quite well. I've not set up Home yet (as I'm in the process of executing a house move) Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

I’ve never really got the point of voice command, never really used it in my Discovery’s either. I find it to distracting! 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

Siri works well though it’s not something I use often. I’ve tried the ‘Hey Land Rover’ that’s just a waste of time. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue
