The above is about the latest John Deere tractors. As you see they are so confident in their latest products they are EXTENDING the warranty by two years. That includes (or is inspite of!) the increased electronic sophistication. Land Rover should be able to do the same but they chose not to. It would show real confidence in and inspire customer confidence in the latest generation of high tech vehicles. P.S. plus we live in a throw away world, so nothing is built to last now, like it was 20 years ago.

Was chatting to the Guys up the farm near me a while back. They run a few JD bits including a combine. I asked about reliability and they said the JD stuff and also Case tractors which they run, are really good. The Service agents who come out to do the work never seem to be busy and any faults are quickly diagnosed and repaired. You can’t afford to have a combine stood up when the sun is shining art harvest 😄
I agree with the point about leasing, but surely JLR still need to shift the vehicle after three or four years, it will still have a value to them and a vehicle which is deemed unreliable and or expensive to repair will have limited appeal and will not be wanted in large numbers in auctions? |

motor industry is having had time selling over priced car as it is you saying we need to inures warranty time too we have no time to care about warranty that you have pay for so no point making it longer my bottom line is on my mind all the time not my customer you just an inconvenient part of this hole thing so now i have your money go away and stop

For those who have half a million euros tucked away under the mattress, John Deere may have just what you are looking for. Although the prices for the new 9R series have yet to be announced, the outgoing machines in the series were certainly nudging that figure. So what will you get for that sort of money? For starters, all the models in the range have been given a power boost with the new 9R/9RX 640 models now boasting 691hp, provided by a 15 litre Cummins engine. At the lower end of the scale the JD 9R 440 has a more modest 484hp under the bonnet and provides an entry point into this league of machinery. The smaller machines of 640hp or less are now all powered by John Deere’s own six cylinder engine of 13.6 litres, the same power plant as found in the company’s X9 combine harvester series. John Deere maintain that noise levels have been reduced by as much as half thanks to its latest fuel injection technology. The models also feature the latest in connectivity and automation. The flagship models come with the Starfire 6000 receiver integrated into the cab roof as standard. Also included is the large 4600 CommandCenter display, full AEF ISOBUS compatibility and AutoTrac activation. For an extra £1,425 these features can be further enhanced by a 'full activation package' for greater automation. The automated operations include - section control, variable rate control, passive implement guidance, turn automation, in-field data sharing, machine sync and the new AutoPath row guidance. An easier ride in the field is also promised. This is a result of individually developed suspension systems for the wheel and tracked variants of the 9R series. Comfort is also increased thanks to a new cab and the option of HydraCushion front axle suspension which is now available on all 9R models. A good friend of mine is a machine operator in farming and they are now looking to go away from 'Deeres as the most recent pair they have had one has been OK (until it got stolen) and 3 years in the other has become a real problem child, most recently a gearbox fault which had seen it go back to the dealer for nearly 3 weeks to be rectified (luckily the dealer identified it was a manufacturing fault- so at no cost to the farm)- add this to repeatedly going into restricted performance for a myriad of small issues, they are now fed up with it.
The smaller of the 2 that was stolen has been replaced with a more simple Massey-Ferguson, and the larger one looks likely to get traded in against something else this year, again probably a lower spec, simpler machine from another manufacturer. Interestingly another friend of mine also in the farming and grounds maintenance world has said that some low hours, 2000s (and even late 90s in some cases!) machines are starting to creep up in value now as folk want a machine that is simpler and can be maintained and repaired by the user (or even out in the field!) more easily.
