In one of your previous posts you mention running 110 springs on your 90. I feel you may have read one of my previous posts somewhere as I run drivers side 110 front springs in the rear of my 90 and I run the passenger side 110 fronts in the front as they’re slightly shorter. It’s a much better ride than standard. It was a bit wallows with the standard shocks so I fitted bilsteins and it really improved it. That said with heavy loads it sits on its back side, in fact just today I ordered some new take off HD 90 rear springs which I’ll fit on trips when I go abroad and the car is loaded to the roof.
I have become curious about the Fox shocks after all the positive reports on here. |

I knew I had read it somewhere whilst trawling through previous posts. I’ve decided for the moment just to keen my standard springs as there’s nothing wrong with them and short of buying the alive ones there doesn’t sound like there are many options that will improve the ride quality unless you’d recommend the 110 set up?

Running 110 fronts on the back is one of the cheaper options for more comfort. They are dual rate/progressive springs too which helps a little with load carrying. Another cheap option is just to run 90 front springs on the back which i think some people on here have done.
I take it you’ve seen this? http://www.red90.ca/rovers/springinfo.html |

Standard springs with the right shocks serve many purposes and are very under rated (in opinion) springs.
OME make a great selection of shocks i know fox are the buzz word in shocks currently on defender but its just good marketing, plenty of options out there. we ran King and Fox shocks for years on off roaders and they are very good but are they needed at the prices for road vehicles? Standard springs and Foxes all round is a great road setup for me.

From what I’m getting from driving it the last few days I’m going to agree with you, the fox shocks are a game changer! No more crashy suspension. I don’t have arbs on my 90 but I managed to pick up some take offs front and rear so we’ll see how that goes

How many fox owners are driving lighter 90s? I’ve gone for Bilsteins on my 110 I also read that in the other chaps ls3 110 build he opted for them over the fox shocks

Mine was much improved when I fitted a 25.4mm rear ARB. |
