Late Td5 and Puma switch is a 4 pole changeover switch.
The Carling hazard switch therefore also needs to be a 4 pole changeover (ON-ON) type switch. I can supply a socket and pins if you don't want to cut the Puma plug off. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

It's hard to see on the photo but there is a code on the side of the switch. You can tell it's function from this simple (haha) specification: https://www.carlingtech.com/sites/default/...asheet.pdf And, yes, an MEng may come in handy to read that spec |

Thank you both.
The markings on the switch are as follows; VJDZ 20A 12v 1809 R From what I can see loosely based on a web search, it's a ON-OFF-ON, so no good as a hazard switch? It came with the Red cover and triangle so I assumed it was the carling version of a Hazard Switch |

Well, there is no such thing as a standard hazard switch. Also switch bodies and covers can be combined in many ways with Carling. Yours is a 2 pole (most switches are single or douple pole).
As Martin said the LR switch is 4 pole, ON-ON. This is how it works (sorry, couldn't find the original LR drawing): Click image to enlarge |

Thanks for that macfrank
I'll order the correct switch and use this one for other duties. I'll take Martin up on the offer to create a loom plug for it when it gets here |

The Carling hazard switch should be from the "J Series", not the "V Series" as you have there.
https://www.carlingtech.com/rocker-switches-j-series Your ON-OFF-ON switch, although it has the correct cap, can't do what a hazard switch needs to. The Carling hazard is only 3 pole so you lose the triangle warning icon in the instrument pack when the hazards are on (unless you also do the mod described elsewhere on here when fitting a Carling hazard switch) 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |
