Physical Security on New Defender
Hi

As well as the standard alarm and immobiliser and Secure Tracker / Secure Tracker Pro - has anyone fitted any physical security to their defenders and what?

Does anyone make Pedal Box Locks or anything else.

THANKS

That seems similar to the Tracker Pro? Provides also provides an additional immobiliser?

This is the new Defender section, James. Those things won't work here - at least not yet. Darren

I will be getting an Autowatch Ghost fitted to mine when it gets delivered. Brilliant bits of kit.

Have you had one before? I'm still slightly wary - putting in a code each time I want to start the car could get very tedious.

Adding anything that interfaces to the CAN bus sounds like a disaster waiting to happen from a warranty perspective. I don't know what the obsession in the UK is with all this tracking/physical locks on vehicles but surely, this has to be more expensive than a good insurance policy excess...

If you really want to track your vehicle, buy a tracker from ebay, wire it in and use an Aldi sim card for a year for basically next to nothing.

Why do we obsess about it? Because there is a huge industry in stealing cars here. Often broken up for parts then shipped overseas to former colonies or Eastern Europe Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Once again, it's a defender that can be easily insured and replaced. Not some priceless work of art.
You'd be better off saving your money that you would spend on pointless security gadgets, on the off chance it gets stolen.

Theft in UK of LR products is a big concern - generally stolen for export.

The law protects the criminals not the vehicle owner should you catch them in the act and beat them ...

Guns are also not widely available and again - if you threatened a thief with a gun - let alone shoot him.. you would be doing time not him...

If you claim on the Insurance your premium rises and eventually you can not get insurance if you have repeated claims.

So stopping the theft seems the best option...

Tbh it sounds like home invasions would probably be an answer to getting the car in that case. Do those happen often?

Another problem here is that we don’t build houses with garages you can get a supermini into, let alone any sort of SUV / utility type vehicle so you can’t hide your pride and joy away at night unless you are fortunate enough to have the sort of property that has enough land to build a suitably large garage. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

It is occurs - do not know the stats...

For me - with the BIG dogs - thats less of a concern... (Some days I don't want to come in - when you see the dogs jumping at the door or stood on his back legs and reaching the top of the door.... but mainly because you get covered in Slobber)

The Physical Security I asked about was to add an extra layer for at home and parked when out or at the airport (if travel ever returns).
