Expedition Rack - Remove "Aero Bars"?
So, a rather odd question which I asked within a different thread but got no answer.

Are the "aero bars" of the rack individually removable? If so, is it time consuming/difficult?

I want to leave the rack on the vehicle full time, but be able to enjoy the folding roof without the bars in the way. I can put the bars back in when we need to carry a load on the rack.

Is this feasible. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE, Eiger Gray, Black Folding Fabric Roof

Is your issue you don't want them interfering with the view or is it that they foul the folding roof?

If the latter, then this is currently in play:

It’s interfering with the view that I’m concerned about. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE, Eiger Gray, Black Folding Fabric Roof

We were able to slide some of the bars around. I think there is a tort bolt under the rubber strip on each end. I think you could remove them by taking the front off the rack and sliding them out, but never tried it or even thought about that. Let us know.

shawnpalmer, In a different thread you mentioned removing your rack several times. It sounded like you removed the 12 screws holding the rack to the feet and then loosening the screws on the feet in order to slide them off the track. Is that correct?

Also, how long does it take start to finish assuming only myself doing it (being quite handy).

Thanks! 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE, Eiger Gray, Black Folding Fabric Roof

No more than 15 mins if you have help lifting the rack on or off. It’s pretty easy. 13mm box wrench is what you need.

You need to loosen the front bar and slide it back. Then there are two bolts that can be removed and slide the front part of the frame off. The all the cross bars can be loosened and slid off. Not a quick job so I would just shut the roof blind and leave as it is Smile
