"LONDON — Jaguar Land Rover executives have confirmed that the long-body 130 version of the Land Rover Defender is still in the product plan and will go on sale within the next 18 months. Plans to include the Defender 130 in the model lineup were leaked ahead of the launch of the two shorter versions in 2019, but the third variant has never been officially confirmed by Land Rover. The new model will boost sales outside Europe, Chief Financial Officer Adrian Mardell said. “The Defender 130 will hit a sweet spot in North America, China and also the Middle East, which we’re not yet touching,” he said on a Feb. 26 call with investors. The Defender 130 will keep the same wheelbase as the mid-range 110 but grow in length to 5100 mm (201 inches) from 4758 mm (187 inches) to include a third row of seats, the leaked presentation from 2019 showed. The Defender range starts with the three-door 90 at 4323 mm (170 inches). The different models are named for the original Land Rover Defender it replaces, which identified each version by the wheelbase size in inches. More than two million of the previous model.

I really would be interested in the 130 with 2 rows and a bigger boot. The boot size is what's stopping me moving from the D5, I'm just about to pull the trigger on a new d5 order for delivery 1st Sept so if they bring a 130 to the UK in 18-24 months timing will be about right. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

I must admit I am tempted by the extra 34cm that it will give, I wonder if it will be a bench in the boot area so it still has the advanctage of the extra length. I am more interested in the extra boot size, coming down from a v-class long to the 110 is a little struggle, but, if the 130 has 34cm extra boot space, its a lot more tempting - just a shame they are talking a min of 18 months, as we are getting a 110Phev and wanted this to last at least until the 2025 all EV LR models come out. |

I hope it will or full size fold down seats like in the D3-D5. with the Spare slung underneath as per the leaked silhouette it also opens up options for a drop tailgate

Gerry McG also dropped hints on the Defender family getting bigger still, becoming a "power brand" of its own; but then he also described the 90 as "the coupe" (pronounced "coop") and the 110 as "the 5 door"...

Seriously does JLR have any brand awareness or market understanding , what is the gap in the market that is being filled by a 130 inch defender with an even more premium price than current models. There is no demand in this sector that is why nobody builds a similar vehicle in the market. To build something like this for USA market will mean you will be up against the might of the North American truck market and the reliability factor that plagues LandRover in north america will mean no large uptake.

It's more than happy to trade volume for high profit per unit. In other words, it doesn't want to have to slug it out in mainstream markets where the customer will compare vehicles forensically with their competitors but rather sell to those chasing the brand values and where the vehicle is an aspirational purchase bought more with the heart than the head. yep and they are still losing money hand over fist , problem is the brand has so many overlapping products competing in the same market space. Like the new defender what new customer is that bringing to Landrover that doesnt already purchase one of the current range. To me the Range rover has a clear market segment , the Evoque has a clear market segment. The Defender needs to be the volume seller but they keep trying to push it into existing markets they already cover which by default are limited volume markets.
