Value a series 1?
Hi,
Series 1 landi, one owner, 1948.. I have no idea of the condition yet arrrrrgh! Any bright sparks out there know of the upper end value for these?

Depends on condition and significance. Impossible to say without more information. Somewhere between £2k and £200k.

As blackwolf says condition will have a huge bearing. Also depending on which part of the 48 model year it was made in can also make a big difference in price, for example a pre 1500 chassis vehicle is usually worth more than a post 1500. The 1948 model year ran into early 1949 and covers the first 3000 vehicles. Genuine 48’s are quite coveted and especially if it is a one owner and well maintained and unrestored.

(If I had a pound for every "rare early Land Rover" I've been to see over the decades that turned out to be a SIII, I could afford to keep my knackered Freelander on the road.... Laughing )

I remember when I purchased my 1948 series 1. I was unsure what I had, so I asked the Series one club local committee member to come and look at it.
His voice was quite plainly very bored and he asked a few questions, that changed when I told him the chassis number. He came and viewed it the next day.
Turns out I had unwittingly made a very good buy! 80" 1948
Lightweight V8
Bowler Tomcat
130 Station wagon
90 300tdi
(Santana PS10 pick up)
Range Rover L322 (Ful fat)
