I have a LR roof rack I picked up off fleaBay recently and at some point would like to install a roof access ladder. From the choices available, it seems most are secured to the rear of the truck by drilling holes and attaching that way. What is a generally agreed approach to making these new holes as weather-resistant as possible? My truck already has lots of places where water and crud can get in, I don't know about adding more!
I guess the same question could be asked for chequer plating on the wing-tops; that's another on the list of upcoming projects as well.
Thanks in advance

no drilling for my big country rack. It clips into the gutter at the top and bolts to the rear crossmember using the bolts that are already fitted by the factory.
