Hi everyone, I’m sure I’m not alone in having water leaks on my 64 Puma. Got in the car the other day to find these water marks underneath the central tunnel and rusty water in the mats.
Anyone any ideas? Doesn’t appear to be any water coming through the windscreen. And help much appreciated. 2nd photo is passenger side. I have managed to get behind the dash, and the water has been collecting in these troughs, which you screw the lower dash screws into. Water obviously sits there given the rust! Question is where is the water coming from? Hope someone can offer some advice. Thank you. Thank you for the reply. That bracket with the rust, is level with the bottom of the dash. Is it an easy job to change the windscreen seal? I had a new screen fitted some 5 years ago. Is it an easy job to replace? Cars, got to love them

Most likely the windscreen seal or the bulkhead seal if it was on the near side i might think it would be the blower seal. You need to seal the windscreen with some flexi seal and cram some captain trolleys into the bulkhead seal (or seal with silicone or acf blue grease)..Try lifting the rubber of the windscreen seal after it has rained then you will be amazed at the water thats under the rubber! |

I had a similar leak and traced it back to window block seal. The idiot that fitted it (me), hadn’t done the top boot up properly. The gaskets go on them quite often and they are only a few pence and a 10 min job so worth doing.

I had a leak in a similar area, though only a small amount, on the passenger side. I worked out iw due to the silly sponge seal on the bulkhead where the scree joins the body. I used Captain Tollys creeping crack cure, just let it soak in and the problem went away for 2 years , It started again recently but a further application stopped iy again

It doesn’t help that the bracket you have pictured was fitted without any form of plating or paint from the factory - incredulously it was bare unprotected steel, so pretty much every Puma has a rusty bracket, water ingress or not, but as it’s hidden behind the dash no one really realises.
