ditching the Golf
guys the time has come to ditch our Golf plus.

there's no denying its seen better days.

short of dropping it off at the local 'we buy any car' in exchange for a 4 pack any other suggestions for any easy and perhaps enough wonga to buy a bottle of spirits instead?

buy the time I've been through all the minor dents, scratches, only 1 key and no service history I think I own 'we buy......'

Very Happy

question is, do you want to risk it getting given back to you (or worse) if the buyer doesn't like what he got for his money?

How bad is the Golf?

does it have an 6 month plus MOT?

Is it a case trying to get say £400 from we buy any car or chance getting £600 on flea bay?

If its that close and it really is a bit of a shed, I would be tempted to run it through we buy any car... not worth the hassle of people coming round and even worse when they drive it off and the engine light comes on Rolling with laughter

You would have to check the rules on 'what is deemed satisfactory' if you sell it privately would people have comeback?

Given how you describe the car I guess you just want shot...

Just incase it helps.
My best mate took his daughters unwanted mini to WBAC and got offered £740, and then they take £50 for admin. He then listed it on Facebook, and eBay and got £1500 cash, sold as seen.

What's the actual law though?

the wording Sold as seen is fine on the advert... but if something goes wrong even selling privately would the buyer have any comeback?

I would want to check the law first..

I'm sure you would get more selling privately than we buy any car, its the potential risk / comeback?

sold as seen / spares or repair is how I tend to sell older cars. I also state any inspection is welcome after that I think its my right to tell them to leave me alone.

What sort of car do you think Catherham has been driving? It’s not like it’s been in a massive accident or a cut and shut. It just old and tatty. Like we all used to have

Taken from the AA website:

Quote:
The only legal terms that cover a private sale contract are:

The seller must have the right to sell the car.
The vehicle should match the description given by the seller.
The car must be roadworthy – it is a criminal offence to sell an unroadworthy car and an MOT certificate from a test several months ago is no guarantee that the car is roadworthy today.

thanks guys.
I think I'm covered on the legal side of things.

just about to let it go for £300 to private buyers whos been given the full story and hes intent of improving it.

even if WBAC offered me more I'd feel like I was being had over a barrel - don't know why just get that feeling?

its just a convenient time to ditch i. Thumbs Up
