Thank you, suspect I'm worrying over nothing as from the two axles I've measured, no one dimension is the same . Glad the pistons have gone to a good home. 1985 127 V8 Build Thread

Do not rotate the lower brackets too far as you would effectively be reducing the vertical distance between the lower link and the top link (A frame ball joint). Since you would be rotating the brackets in an arc, you can get the diff nose to point downwards with standard drag links. Maybe not enough to notice. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing

Wow, they're thick brackets!
But they don't have the "washers" that thicken up the eye of the bolt hole, so that's good. As already said, keep LH and RH sides aligned. Personally, I'd fab up a simple jig that fastens to the spring seat to set each side relevant to that. Of course, you're then reliant on the spring seat alignment being ok, but it should be close enough. Any axle, bent or not, SHOULD have the same reationship betwwen the Spring seat and trailing arm bracket. |

Thanks all, I offered the axle up to the chassis today and am happy with the position of the brackets in relation to the stub axle mating flanges.
Click image to enlarge They are certainly thicker than the originals (6mm vs 3mm) which seemed a bit flimsy to my mind. Good idea re picking up on the spring seat, will knock up a quick jig tomorrow and try it on a few axles before I finalise their position. 1985 127 V8 Build Thread Series 2 109" Series 1 80" |
