Got the gear linkage adjusted to engage the tiptronic. You get a pretty average gear indicator with the shifter kit but rather than not use it i have put in somewhere I can at least see it, can get a nice digital one for the dash if I find it useful.... The tiptronic is excellent, no DCT but good changes. I find using the switch on the selector a bit awkward though as the gear stick is fully to the back and I dont want to add seat extenders so I dug out the old paddle shift kits I had from the last LS. These never really worked well as they used a bluetooth connection to the electronic shifter but I am going to try and make use of these and basically just turn it into a second switch.

Always wondered how they worked without a clock spring! How are you planning to connect without BT?

If the Bluetooth is a bit temperamental then maybe it would be best to go with a wired option. I've done many curly chords for rally/race with a quick disconnects to easily remove the steering wheel. 1989 90 4.3 V8

Sorry didn’t really explain. These paddle shifters are from my last LS which had a push button gear selector and then paddles via a Bluetooth module. I now have a simple rocker resistance switch on the top on the gear stick so I plan to just replicate another switch with the paddles. Andy

Think I discovered the cause of the rough idle and occasional cut off, 10bar fuel pressure Shocked Shocked

LS engines should be around 52 psi. We fitted a new high flow pump into the tank and then a new 52 psi regulator so it would seem the regulator is shot. Have a new one on the way. Andy

Me too, we thought the first gauge was broken so added a bigger one which had the range. Luckily I have only run 100 miles but won’t go any further until it’s sorted. Andy

I might've missed it, but have we heard the sound of this V8 powered "work of art" working hard under load?

Also decided to go down the simple route for the tiptronic, just moved the top of the gear knob, quick scan with the laser & reverse engineered it into a printed pod instead of a second cup holder, ideal location for me there. Just need to finish and paint it and then fit a new blank to the gear knob.

This thread is unreal, I've been involved in cars all my life, all sorts of cars, all sorts of engines/conversions etc, but I don't think I can remember such beautiful "more than professional" work, of such a complex & wide ranging nature, being carried out on a vehicle, & more particularly, where all the work has been designed, planned, & actually "done" by one person. Simply amazing.
Pickles.
