United Kingdom 2009 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Stornoway Grey
is a swap possible?
Hi
my 2009 plate 2.4L has some sizeable engine issues and its possible it might come to an engine replacement(hopefully not).

My question is - can i replace my 2.4L engine with a 2.2L puma engine?
I ask this because I know there is a company that can make a 2.2 ULEZ compliant and if I'm going to spend all that dough, may as well get a few more years driving where I live and work.

My family and I LOVE our defender and spend most holidays in her.

Can anyone help??

many thanks if so

Others will give you details on a a swap of a 2.4 with a 2.2, but I expect it’s one of the simplest to do.

An alternative, and It all depends on what you have as a budget, is to investigate a petrol conversion such as the 2.3 ecoboost from JE Motor Works, plus other options they have. https://www.jemotorworks.co.uk/engine-conversions

Has anyone heard of the smaller EcoBoost engines being used?

The 1.6 from the Fiesta ST produces ~200 BHP, but would need to be tuned to increase torque. 2011 CSW XS 90
