Central locking
Help please
I have been having difficulty unlocking and subsequently locking my 2002 TD5 with the blip key.
i have changed the battery in the key fob which has made no difference. I now have to leave the vehicle unlocked (luckily in a garage) It always starts and runs ok. Is there a motor or central locking actuator that needs replacing?
Any advice please
Robert

Can you explain in more detail what’s happing ? Are the locks trying to lock and then bounce back, is there no movement at all. When in vehicle with engine running can you lock the doors by pressing the drivers door button down, can you unlock or lock with key.

Many of these problems manifest themselves during the cold weather, a lot of times it’s the drivers door mechanism that’s frozen, either the lock barrel or lock mechanism. These can be cured with cleaning and graphite puffed into the lock and mechanism.

If it’s not frozen or jammed locks and getting no movement when pressing down buttons it can be a broken wire in the loom between body and door, or blown fuse , or bad earth etc.

So doing a few tests as above and providing info on what you observe will help localising the issue.

Ps when running tests have at least one window wide open so if something is stiff and then locks but won’t open again you can get back in.

Thanks for the replies
When I press the blipper there is usually a loud click and the indicators flash. Now there is nothing happening.
I will need to make further checks (remembering to have a window open)

Robert

if it was always working and you didn't mess with it. it's most likely a blown fuse from a broken wire that shorted out at one of the doors. From the land of the most expensive land rover defenders on planet earth. At 125k for a XS 110 csw and you get to own it only for 10yrs! Please find me a good reason to stay on this island.
