Its been a bit quiet recently. I have been on jury service, so not a great deal done.
I have removed the rear tub, and the chassis is definitely . There is a lot of corrosion in hidden places that MOT would have never spotted without tub removal. Beware all those now MOT exempt Land Rovers with supposedly patched up and good chassis! Other than that I have been trying to remember my aircraft repair skills, and rebuilding the seat box out of new alloy panels. The results are pretty good! If anyone has a spare under-seat compartment cover (the one that fits over the centre seat position, or one for the passenger seat tool box, I would be interested to purchase? Like this one. I want it to fit over the tool tray under the passenger seat. Next job, un-skin the doors and repair the frames! 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV 1966 S2a 109 aka Betsy 1968 S2a 88 aka Bob 2014 Jaaaag F Type 3.0 Supercharged. |

I forgot I had a thread on here about my rebuild! Did a comprehensive thread on Disco3, but imminent arrival of an L663 Defender brought me back here.
I finished the S2a back in August and have been driving it around since. It will never win a concourse, but I’m well pleased with it. Drives like a new car. Wonderful. I like that you've kept the signwriting. Darren

Very nice indeed.
Did you get a new fuse-box cover? I think they were available when I needed one, a couple of years ago. |

Yes got one now.
Also now fitted a heater. I couldn’t get a decent leak free round heater, so put a mint condition Smiths flat heater in it. It’s not original as it had the remains of a round heater originally. I kept the rheostat control though, and wired it to the ‘fast’ connection. This gives me infinitely variable fan speed, like the old round version. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV 1966 S2a 109 aka Betsy 1968 S2a 88 aka Bob 2014 Jaaaag F Type 3.0 Supercharged. |
