On my previous Discos I have always specified fixed tow bars, just don't trust removeables - too many horror stories with horse and livestock trailers. Defender 90XS SW

Mine has the removeable one, unfortunately my order got confirmed before the fixed one because available on the configurator. I’d have preferred the fixed one as it gives more options for trailer heights etc. but the removeable one seems to work well and I suppose at least departure angle can be maintained off road.

Does anyone know the nose weights for each of the tow bar options?

Yes, I thought it would be a bit fragile. I’m just always bothered it may not deploy one day when I really need it. Also that I tow off road in muddy conditions and worry about mud getting chucked up into the housing while it’s deployed and then having issues with it when it try’s to hibernate?

I just wish we could get the US/Aus style 2 inch receiver version.
Would just fit the US one but can't be bothered fighting off insurance company if they every have a problem with non-type-approved tow bar. Come on LR / someone - make a type approved receiver hitch for the defender... Cheers, David Land Rovers of all shapes S3 onwards… Daily is a 110 V8. |

Hi folks , Iam having the Towbar dilemma at the min, as I can’t have one built onto my car due to delays of some kind.
The electric retractable is £2300, which is frankly insane . Pretty struck on the 3 height one as it is stronger, but will it look a bit rubbish ? Looking at the configurator , the picture isn’t great. Does anyone have a real life pic I can see ? Looks as if you need to chop a fair bit of bumper away. There are no wiring modules available either, but I have found a company that makes them, I have used these copies before & they program in just the same as the original. I have also emailed Westfalia about their bar in development, but not heard back from them. |

Westfalia make all the LR towbars.
Removeable and deployable ones are factory fit, the multi height one is dealer fit. All are much cheaper if specced as part of the build compared to after sale. They all require a different lower bumper trim with a cutout piece. Have a look at the fitting instructions on the LR accessories website, they give a good idea of what’s involved in each of the variants. |

Thanks for this , I know they are cheaper factory fit, however there is no supply, my build is due any day & will be delayed indefinitely if I insist on it, so have left it off the order.
Westfalia must not supply to anyone other than LandRover at the min, as their website claims the part is in development. |

Go with the multi height adjustable one the removable one is causing a lot of problems. Few guys on Facebook group having to change theirs, said the trailer feel like they are about to bounce off the tow ball when empty load. Works fine when something is on the trailer.
