DCPU Spare Wheel Carrier
Maybe just a temporary blip, but nowhere has a spare wheel carrier for a pick up, and any company I have spoken to have no idea when they will start manufacturing them Confused

My friend has a Safari Equip one on his dcpu. In fact this is his second as he also had one on his old truck. Try them.

Are you looking for a DCPU spare wheel carrier as in internal to the tub or just an external spare wheel carrier to be hung off the rear crossmember?

Naka is ridiculous money frankly.

The Saf equipe I had issues with it swinging open after loosening the antiluce connectors

So for more than 75% less than the Naka I fit a side open tailgate with some custom made heavy duty hinges. Spare now sits on the door as per a normal Def.

One of the reasons that these are hard to find is that there are very, very few that are designed to work with a tailgate rather than a rear door. I only know fo two, the Nakatanenga offering, and the Allisport offering, both of which are rather pricey. If you want one that fits to the crossmember and will work without modification with an Ifor Williams canopy, the number drops even further, to zero. Both of the above will foul the rear flap of the canopy and prevent it from opening, although it isn't hard to modify the Allisport one so that it works. My Allisport carrier was let down by the shocking quality of the powder-coat, but to be fair it was an early one when they were still Sonic3D carriers, not Allisport, so the coating may be better now (it could hardly be worse).

It is about time that someone offered a crossmember mounted swing away carrier for pickups that doesnt foul the rear flap, doesn't foul the towing hitch, and doesn't rust. It wouldn't be difficult.

Sorry to ask but does Anyone have the plastic spare wheel securing bolt they would like to sell.
I can’t find the part online and my spare sits on the tub floor.

The exact reason I now have the safari equip wheel carrier. Also many holes in the rear tub so I’m now committed.

I did think about having the ifor canopy hinge at the bottom as you lifted it to clear the spare wheel but it seemed like a lot of faff. Although now I’m looking at re coating the carrier (and sliders, also safari equip) as the powder coat has flakes off in many places. Relieving the galv undercoat. So it won’t rust. Plastic? Mine secured with a threaded bar attached to the bulkhead. Had a metal disc with foam on it and a wing nut. 2011 Defender DCPU 2.2 - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic30623.html

Thanks Roy
I have the threaded bolt from the bulkhead but not the fixing bit to hold the spare in place 👍
