First decent motorway run today...
Had to go on an essential journey today. 70 mile round trip. Mainly motorway.

Active cruise is very good, once I was used to it. I found it best to keep the distance setting on 2 bars. It’s important you don’t hold the decrease distance button too long or it will switch off the active bit of the cruise control. I didn’t realise until the lorry in front got too close for comfort and I had to brake! So, adjust the distance by dabbing the button.

If the active cruise slows you down because there is traffic in front, be ready for a rapid burst of acceleration when you change lane or the traffic clears. It’s a bit abrupt to be honest.

Lane keep assist, I like it. There were no unwanted intrusions and I like the closing traffic warning, which once did flash a collision warning on the dash as I went through some roadworks and a car was close next to me.

Very comfortable drive, and averaged 30.5mpg over the 70 mile trip. That was on the dash, so not sure how accurate it will be. Not bad if it is accurate, 300D engine. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

That's been a fault of the system ever since it was introduced years ago... Why nobody at the company will listen to owners...

It was embarrassing if you had a new person in your car ~ just made it look like you were driving like a dick.

Not bad at all, on the weekend i did 185KM each way and was able to give the P400 a good run, it was returning
10.1l/100 KM's or 27.96 MPG in UK MPG terms. The trip stated average speed was 68KPH, however on the long
highway stretches the average was "around 110 KPH" Whistle. I have checked the app figures against my
petrol receipts and they are close enough, within a 0.1/ 0.2 litres per 100 KM from what i can work out.

this is the fault of most of them though isnt it? I had the same on a Mitz PHEV some years ago. Defender D250 HSE

No idea ~I've only driven versions of the RRS with it. Don't know anything about the workings of the system to understand why that should be deemed a "feature" rather than a fault.

It’s the first car I’ve had with acc. It’s not a fault as much as a design feature. It accelerates quicker than I would if I were in control. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

Almost everyone commenting on it, in various forums, makes the same point about it being too rapid/not optimum. For me the question I've never seen answered is why it does, and why it can't be changed or best of all made variable so the owner can dial in what they want.

That's always seemed to be an issue with ordinary cruise control, too. Cancel to slow down and then press the resume button and it takes off like a stabbed rat. That's certainly been my experience in other Land Rovers (D2 - 4, FL2) but also in other makes. Darren

Surely all it needs is a line of coding that basically interrogates the current speed and set speed and if it more than Xmph then restrict the speed advance to make them equal to Y - basically an acceleration controller.

All the ships I sailed in in the last 20+ years would only speed up on a load up program to avoid overloading the main engine - on my last ship the speed up (and slow down!) was 1rpm a minute from 57revs up to 85revs and then from 85 rpm up to 102rpm (flat out) took 1 rpm up and down 3 minutes but that could vary depending on the load on the engine. Even then it could take even longer because of the depth of water being shallow or strong adverse winds/currents that add external load considerations. OK that’s a bit slow for a car but we have the tech to do it! Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Me too - worst was a rental car I had in the USA many years ago - pressed Resume after a toll plaza stop and the car went absolutely berzerk!!! Off Topic Up to retiring on Feb7th 2020 I was Master (aka Captain) on very big containerships and a few smaller ones with 10 passengers as well as containers. Smallest I sailed in was 84m long / 100 x 20ft containers and the biggest 404m long could carry 23,000 x 20ft units! Power units varied from one ship with 4 x Olympus gas turbines (same engines as powered Concorde but marinized) to single 14 cylinder thundering great diesel lumps producing 85,000ph at 102rpm
Looking on Google maps at your location you will be used to seeing some of them on the River Schelde - we used to berth on the riverside terminal near Zandvleit Locks or over the river at Degeuren Dock.
