If you're after a cheaper alternative to the T56 for the LS3 you can fit the ZF 6 speed manual, easily picked up out of a variety of BMW's. 1989 90 4.3 V8

isn't a L83 going to be rare as hens teeth in the UK tho?

I see they are common in the usa, the 5.0 coyote is obtainable used in the UK, L83 doesn't seem to be...

Yes, I guess you would need to source from the US,

I think the attraction is the cylinder deactivation / economy, if we did it again I would do it the same way we did the L83, ie adapter plate and use stock Defender MT82, rather than merge the 5.0 box to the Defender box. Dave

Dave, how do you think a standard defender MT82 will cope with the L83, let alone the Coyote engine? Is the gearbox going to be a ticking time bomb?

I have sent you a pm regarding the kit you supply for the L83 to MT82. I have driven Nene’s demo with the L83 and I was pretty impressed. A big draw for me was that it utilised the standard gearbox and transfer box, only slightly upgraded with ATB diffs.

As a conversion, I wouldn’t be overly concerned with fuel economy and the cylinder deactivation but would want reliability

Sounds interesting.

Have you got a link to it to look through pricing and what's included?

How does it end up packaging in terms of the front end of an LS3 and steering box etc?

Sorry I have just made some for Nene as they asked me and lent me an engine, not sure ref packaging, you would need to view their demo car, Dave

Just read through this, very interesting. The problem with the total estimated 10k price being discussed is reliant on getting a good return on the rolling chassis, finding a suitable second hand Coyote on-line for ‘£3-4k’ as quoted, (I did a quick check and the ones I saw worth touching were £5k), and then of course that all the other parts are sourced at the same price as listed and the build is trouble free. What’s more, how many people have the space, let alone the time, for a full donor chassis rebuild? I think a £10k target could be met, but it would the absolutely perfect, trouble free DIY build.... Monsieur Le Grenadier

£10k plus the odd weekend is the price used to justify the budget to the powers that be... WARNING.

What about the 4.3 V6 ?

https://gmauthority.com/blog/gm/gm-engines/lv3/

285 HP and 414 Nm,

The MT82 would be fine with that Dave
