funny enough I am fitting one at the moment, and the Thermo top V doesnt have a separate air intake as such, at least not one that I can see with the unit sat on my bench! Mine came off a MY2010 FFRR.
Im trying to find the topix parts list for the OEM fitted version to get the mounting plate from LR so I can put it in the same slot. Working out pretty cheap at the moment as well should have all the parts for under £200 inc the FBH then its just a case of fitting which I am enlisting the help of a more mechanically minded mate Only things left to figure out is the temperature sensors and where to put them and where they connect too, hoping they will be on TOPIx. POM - thanks for your reply = let me know how you get on.
Doesn't anyone have any experience of Webasto and where to take the air from? |

Not on a 110, but I did have one on a Discovery a few years ago. I guess it depends to a certain extent where in the engine bay it's fitted, but I don't recall any special precautions or problems with wading. Obviously, you wouldn't want to actually run it whilst under water, though. Darren

Waking this old thread to life again.
Routing the Webasto air intake to the air filter housing or snorkel is according to my local webasto service company not advisable. They told me they recently had an RR in for service where this had been done, with the result: while the Webasto was running the driver had a heavy right foot -> lots of air was sucked through the snorkel -> this created a backdraft in the Webasto air inlet -> flames were sucked through the pipe to the RR air filter which caught fire -> pieces of the air filter went through the turbo -> expensive mistake. I thought of tie-wrapping rubber around the exhaust and intake during deep wading, does anyone have other ideas? |

I've been wondering about getting one and this bothers me too
Ive been thinking if it's possible to fit a 2nd snorkel on the other wing and take the inlet from that. Even possibly insulating the exhaust of the heater and seeing if that could be run to the top of the head facing out the back possibly preheating the air within the snorkel too before it got to the fbh. My biggest concern would be the exhaust melting the snorkel and having enough room next to the original landy heater to get the hoses in 2014 - current ..... 2003 defender td5 90 (my car) 2009 - current .... 2005 zx10r |
