Stateside -- getting on the list
Evoque owner here and long time Defender fan. While the new Defender definitely isn't the one I grew up wanting, it's almost certainly the one I need for the life I actually have rather than my fantasy life. Good road manners, enough space for the Great Dane and camping gear, enough electronic wizardry that I will do some off-roading and some snow driving, big enough to fit a 6'7 ex-pat and I'm looking out the middle of the windscreen, not squinting around the sun visor. Plus, you know, good a/c and heating for the extremes.

Test-drove the P300 and it seems more than adequate for my needs; if I want to go fast I've a KTM RC8R that'll do that far better than I'm capable of handling it and the massive cost drop is another winner in my books. Forced aspiration is a win since I live at almost 2000m.

So I took the leap and stuck in a deposit at the local dealer. Looking to get something the fake classic (Pangea Green, white roof, white steelies) with a few electronic goodies -- off-road package for the electronic diff, towing package since I'm pants at backing a trailer, cold weather package, heated seats and so on.

Trying to decide on some of the smaller things like sound system (is the Meridian a worthy upgrade?) and some of the others.

Welcome to the forum.

Sounds a nice spec, I went with the upgraded sound system mainly because my current car has the meridian surround sound system which I do like, though it still won’t be as good. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue

I had the same thoughts on the sound system; it's (relatively) not a lot of money and it's (relatively) a fine quality of driving life thing.

I have the base Meridien in the Evoque, and it's really quite nice.

Well. Order is in, and now I guess the (actual) wait begins, instead of the wait to start the wait.

Meanwhile, I drove my Evoque less miles than I rode my Ducati last year, and I rode the Ducati less miles than I cycled on the Bianchi.

Why am I buying a new car again? Might need my head examined.

Build date is a Friday in March; not sure if I should be afraid of a Friday car or not. Delivery end of May, barring the world doing anything else crazy.

Ended up with 'simpler' (I do think I've less to run into with the P300 than the P400!) and 'relatively' base.

- D110 P300
- Pangea Green, white roof
- 18" steel wheels
- White cross bar
- Premium DRL/foglights/AHBA
- Off-road pack
- Towing pack
- Cold climate pack
- Heated seats
- Basic Protection Pack
- Front under shield
- Meridien Sound System
- Clearview rear mirror
- Activity key

Got a couple of weeks if there's anything to change.

I think that's reassuring, then. I had pictures of the crew trying to bail for a few swift pints on a Friday night.

That’s because Land Rover’s system only works in weeks, so it’s a ‘week ending’ date.

Thanks 'conda. Makes sense and I started to wonder if that wasn't the case. Didn't shift much when I crept the price up wth the 'interactive driver display' being added. D110 P300 (now here) -- Pangea Green / white roof / white steelies / Off-road pack / towing pack / cold-weather pack / heated seats and assorted fun odds and sods

Well -- this week is my in-theory build week for the 2021.

Will I rival @J77 for how long it takes to leave Nitra?

Will I get the fancy new leather facings?

Will it get on a ship to the States? Will all the containers fall off in a storm, like Trek bicycles?

Answers on a postcard, please! D110 P300 (now here) -- Pangea Green / white roof / white steelies / Off-road pack / towing pack / cold-weather pack / heated seats and assorted fun odds and sods

You shouldn't have to wait as long as J77 to leave Nitra - I was told by my salesman that cars of his build week got held back (I assume because of supplychain issues), I'm just hoping that doesn't bump mine back a week. Confused

I assume you (like me) will not get cloth edging on the seats Thumbs Up

You're on your own with the ship across the pond I'm afraid, I onlyhave yje Zeebrugge to Hull hop to cope with Neutral Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

I guess it could be worse, I could live in Hull? Twisted Evil

Just have to wait for that trans-atlantic ship and then to get to the middle of the States. D110 P300 (now here) -- Pangea Green / white roof / white steelies / Off-road pack / towing pack / cold-weather pack / heated seats and assorted fun odds and sods

TO be fair, I was judging them by the way I operate. D110 P300 (now here) -- Pangea Green / white roof / white steelies / Off-road pack / towing pack / cold-weather pack / heated seats and assorted fun odds and sods

Well. The car is built, and I have a VIN. It's not a Friday car, but it is a hump day one. I guess I'm glad they don't celebrate St. Paddy's day in Slovakia. Or I hope they don't.

If it HAD been a Friday car, it would have shared a birthday with my Great Dane mind... D110 P300 (now here) -- Pangea Green / white roof / white steelies / Off-road pack / towing pack / cold-weather pack / heated seats and assorted fun odds and sods
