Windscreen & bulkhead foam...leaks curing, again!

Hi all...it seems like I've been waging war on LR leaks for over 45 years & yes, I'm still failing!

So, I recently under warranty had a new windscreen surround & as per usual with anything involving main dealers, it came out worse than before & since said warranty repair I've been suffering from the normal wet feet issue & having stripped everything down believe its permeating through the foam seal between the bulkhead & windscreen (which it didn't before going in).

Now, I want to try something a bit different from smearing Tiger Seal & Captain Tolleys etc & was wondering whether anyone on the forum has fitted a discreet finishing trim/moulding strip/self adhesive strip etc along the full length of the foam seal & if yes, success rates & what you actually fitted?

Thanks in anticipation Since 1973...S1, Air Portable's, Defender's, but only my Wolf TUL HS GS remains

1986 Defender 130 V8 Petrol HCPU Aintree Green

I've had success with a bead of sikaflex along the outer face of the seal in the past. With careful masking it can look 'factory' and by sealing any gaps between the frame/seal/bulkhead it should stop the leak.

There was something on here a few/couple of years ago - can't remember who it was - who suggested some vinyl strips or 'helicopter tape'.

I thought about it then but never actually got round to it. Donald

Thanks Shroppy & Donmach...I've previously used Tiger Seal to good effect but I'm not the best at using a sealant gun & my results have been mixed. I'm sure their is a strip of black PVC or similar which is a bit more substantial than tape but not too obvious to the untrained eye which can be used & I'd be amazed if its not been used before. No bother. I like Caap'n Tolley's stuff - but I think it would be awkward to use there without causing runs.

Have a google for helicopter tape - I think (could be an urban myth!) that it's meant for the leading edge of helicopter rotors. It comes in a transparent form ( I've used on bike frames) so if you get it on nicely, on a warm day, it would be pretty hard to see. Donald

Funnily enough in a previous life I was helicopter crew & yes, we used to use said tape, its brilliant stuff but I'm not sure I have the skills to put a thin strip on neatly!

i use cap trolleys plus acf 50 greace..the trolleys goes hard and the greace fills in the gaps.
