Personally,
Unless your a farmer with a collie hanging out the back I think IW backs look ugly! I don't think there is an attractive way to cover the back, but I think the lesser of the evils is a Truckman. I picked mine up for under 200 quid and it was even the right colour for my 110. 2002 Defender 110 DC |

Patriot were doing an internal cage which fitted under the standard tilt if I recall correctly. it could be modified pretty easily to be locked, if not already 110 Tdci Double Cab

Oops! must have overlooked that minor detail.

It's not Stornoway, but your rear end (arf) would be pretty much this ugly:
...so if you care about looks, guess it's not the one. They can also make a right din on rough surfaces |

You could always try an AFN HardTop? on a double cab :

Try a Gamic top, locks and has gas struts, fits much better than an Ifor as it follows the rake of the cabin, also the seal is under the roof gutter so stays much dryer. Around £500 ish. Largely the Land Rover wavers will ignore you with such a top as they think "Farmer" and don't bother. But the look has it's up sides, especially sneaking round the countryside as most people don't give you a second glance.

I opted for the above a while ago, yes very expensive but, lockable, hidden and will also allow me to keep the look of the canvas rear which I like about the vehicle. Will be changing to an Exmoor Trim Mohair black jobbie tilt once pennies allow Currently waiting for the Security Tilt to be made by Patriot, it seems only small batches are put through at any one time, but I guess they are not really high demand accessories Good luck with what you choose, it's not easy Defender 110 Puma Utility XS |

Here you go, Stornoway grey with plain IW canopy. I will try to upload some other photos later.

It comes with locks already fitted. Good bit of kit - I liked the look of the mohair tilt with the security of the cage underneath it. We paid less for ours as an ex-demo and sold it earlier this year before selling the 110 TR. John http://www.hampshire4x4response.co.uk 2011 Tdci 110 CSW XS |

Here are some more photos. NB it is fairly rare to see genuine DC IW canopies for sale, although 90 canopies are common as muck and very cheap. A 90 canopy is approx 4" longer than a DC canopy and won't fit unless cut down. Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge |

One advantage of the unpainted IW top is that it stays remarkably cool in the back even on the one day of summer we get each year, which is ideal if you have to carry animals in the back. To me that is actually a more important consideration than the aesthetics! My truck is a working truck rather than a plaything and to an extent the appearance is immaterial, but tbh I quite like the look now even though I fully accept it is not everyone's cup of tea. It was a bit too bright and shiny when new though. Personally I much prefer the look of the IW canopy to the ultra-expensive body-coloured square plastic monstrosities. Beauty is purely in the eye of the beholder though and I am sure that there are plenty of others who love the ones I think are hideous and think that mine is equally hideous. |
