I though the weight limit where it tipped it into a lower speed limit was 2.something tonnes, somewhat below the unladen weight of a 90. Re 3.05 tonnes, happy days and can floor it up the A9!!
PS So daft question, and the route of my confusion, why isn’t the 90HT a CDV? https://www.gov.uk/government/publications...e-vehicles All too complicated for me. |

Putting back some of my deleted post - the 2T thing comes in on twincab (not 2 seat singlecab) 4+ seat pickups - which is what I had before my impending Defender - for those vehicles there were no restrictions UNLESS the unladen weight of the vehicle was more than 2040kg - if you were over (as were some versions of the Amarok and Rangers) then the lower speed limits applied

The 2040kg limit is also a defining feature of dual purpose vehicles, regardless of how many doors or seats:
Given the hefty weight of both versions of the new Defender, it won't qualify as a DPV and will be limited to van speed limits after all. I guess this was the same for the D3/4 commercials too, but as they were virtually indistinguishable from the regular version, they probably flew under the radar. Interesting take on the Land Rover configurator from this company called Overton Prestige in Derby...
They say: Overton Prestige are pleased to offer great deals on the New Land Rover Defender. All models available. Simply build your desired Defender on the main Land Rover web site and send ourselves the configuration code to sales@overtonprestige.co.uk , https://www.overtonprestige.co.uk/used-car...2187228679 As above advert: 2.0 SD4...does this option even exist???? Since 1973...S1, Air Portable's, Defender's, but only my Wolf TUL HS GS remains |

Isn't the clear view camera in a little shark fin on the roof at the back of the car? The screen is in the mirror. If the camera were in the mirror, it would have exactly the same view looking backwards as the normal mirror, i.e. the spare wheel and your rear middle passenger's face. |

That's what he's saying, the clear view camera is the camera for the mirror, the reversing camera is a different camera mounted near the license plate. MY2021 Defender 90 P400 SE

Yes the camera is in the sharkfin - otherwise where else would it be the screen uses the rear view mirror rather than the main infotainment screen used for the reversing camera located by the number plate. The point is you cant really reverse of the clear view camera Mike |

The clear view camera is not good for reversing. It gives has a blind spot immediately behind the car. If a car pulls up behind you at the traffic lights, it disappears off the bottom of the mirror, just like it would with a real mirror.
In a real mirror you can move your head to vary what you can see, the clearview mirror is a static image in that respect. This is the bit that takes a bit of getting used to. If your used to checking your eyeliner in the mirror, your going to have a problem! Also if a van or lorry pulls in behind, you do get a close up view of the driver, not always the best view 😂 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV 1966 S2a 109 aka Betsy |

You could just fold down the driver side sunshade and there is an illuminated vanity mirror to allow for those with narcissistic tendencies. It even has a cover for those who don’t like/want to see what they look like Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |
