Blaupunkt London stereo
Good afternoon gentleman, I would like a bit of advice on fitting a new head unit to my MY11 2.4 puma. I have removed the original head unit and offered up the new unit only to find the security bracket is to large we're do I go from here.,

I had the same problem with a Blaupunkt stereo. On the plastic frame that it goes into are two metal clips on the plastic, presumably there to add extra strength. I ended up carefully prying them off and it fit then with some gentle work with a file. The supplied frame for the stereo seems strong enough to hold it and it hasn't shifted since with no deforming of the plastic or cracks (despite giving it some very good shakes over the years). 90 - Gone but not forgotten

Hi, what did you use to remove them?, I presume once removed and aperture made bigger there's on going back to ome head unit?

Prize them off with a screwdriver. They will probably fit back on again if you need to.

Good afternoon gentleman, I'm back, picture the scene, get the Landy out remove metal bars from each side of radio aperture on dash file away allowing cradle to slid in sweet, place head unit into cradle and yes you guessed it the head unit doesn't lock into cradle because there is no resistance against the cradle because the dash is thin at aperture l'm pulling my hair out gents I've done this job on numerous occasions in my youth usually without any problems but this one is doing my head in please help any advice would be much appreciated.

If I understand your post correctly...

There is sufficient strength in the dashboard fascia, just be sure to bend over enough of the head unit cage tabs on the top, bottom and sides to secure the cage in place.

With regard to the head unit not clicking into its cage, ensure there are no obstructions behind the head unit which are preventing the head unit from being pushed back far enough. I find it beneficial to tuck large connectors and excess wiring into the hollow spaces down the sides of the dash.

Another tip if you are having difficulties... Undo the two torx bolts on the front of the fascia and pull the fascia out completely by a couple of inches, then fit the stereo cage to the fascia, fit the stereo into its cage and refit the fascia in place complete with the stereo already fitted to it. This gives you better access to get your hands behind the dash as necessary > 110 XS Double Cab

Is there a rubber covered stud in the centre of the back of the radio that’s not letting you push the radio all the way back into the dash ? If so remove it and try fitting without it.

Hi there, (WxHxD) 178mm x 50mm x 165mm yep there is rubber screw at the rear of head unit so will remove and try to refit tomorrow is it ok to install with out rubber screw?.

I changed my radio and removed the rubber screw and haven’t had any problems yet.
Obviously it’s there to support the radio in the bracket that is fitted at the back of the dash that you can see in your photo, but you should be ok without it. Another possibility is maybe trimming the rubber to get it fit, but I haven’t tried doing this.
You will probably have fun getting all the wires out of the way down the back of the dash so you can push the radio back far enough. Good luck. Thumbs Up
