The colour you see above is not the final Oslo blue, it’s still the epoxy coat - it’s just been tinted to Match the top coat so less chance of seeing any chip marks or deep scratches in the future.

Ah sorry misread that last comment.....
One thing I did overlook is the spare wheel carrier. Just found it in the garage and it looks dirty and rusty. Might have to do something about that before I refit it. Probably get it powder coated or painted satin black. 2002 Td5 | 90 County Station Wagon | Oslo Blue 2006 Td5 | 90 County Station Wagon | Tonga Green (Gone ) 2002 Td5 | 90 County Station Wagon | Zambezi Silver (Gone) |

Yes i should of added a few more words as well
Good that you found the spare wheel carrier and would agree to powder coat it but as an extra precaution, get it galvanised first ? 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper. Clayton. |

Nice work going on there. Quality is aimed to make it last forever
I see the cappings are back on the tub. Did you manage to repair? Since the CSW are a bit different to the hardtops, not sure how easy to find replacements. I have galvanized a few sets, and is one of the 'upgrades' I never regret of doing. 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

Nice work Christian 👍 Looks like my planned trip to Scotland in Feb is going to be cancelled.
One tip, when you put the rear door together, give the rear wiper motor a good service. It had a habit of sticking if left for a long period. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV 1966 S2a 109 aka Betsy 1968 S2a 88 aka Bob 2014 Jaaaag F Type 3.0 Supercharged. |

Thanks for the tip Gareth, will take a look at that later in the week. The capping were repaired and just painted. Thought about galvanising them however they lasted 20 years before needing any attention, hoping that by painting them properly they would last just as long.
Got some pictures today with the first of the Oslo Blue paint on. I love the colour, looks very deep and reflective. It will look amazing polished up and ready to roll. It won’t be a garage ornament that’s for sure - it will be used that way it was intended however it may get a few wash and polishes along the way Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge 2002 Td5 | 90 County Station Wagon | Oslo Blue 2006 Td5 | 90 County Station Wagon | Tonga Green (Gone ) 2002 Td5 | 90 County Station Wagon | Zambezi Silver (Gone) |

Final panels now painted, including the roof and wings, wing tops are new as the last ones had 20 years of cups and spanner’s on them. It was easier and cheaper just to replace the wing tops with new.
Rebuild starting now and should have it back driving by the end of next week. I will still have a few smaller jobs to do inside like stereo, seat belts in the front to replace and seats to refit in the back. I’ll do that once it gets a good hoover and clean up. Just had a delivery of Dinitrol to cover all the chassis and rails along with the bulkhead and new door bottoms. That should protect it for a good few years... I think it will look perfect once it’s back together and should last a good few years now with the repairs, paint and protection. 2002 Td5 | 90 County Station Wagon | Oslo Blue 2006 Td5 | 90 County Station Wagon | Tonga Green (Gone ) 2002 Td5 | 90 County Station Wagon | Zambezi Silver (Gone) |

I do not think I would have the guts to take it close to any shrub with such a good paint job.
Well done on the finish. 👍 1988 90 Hard Top, 19J Diesel Turbo, Shire Blue - Restoration ongoing 2012 90 CSW, 2.2TDCI, Santorini Black |

I take no credit for the paint job. It was painted by retrograde Autobody in Blairgowrie
I understand your thoughts about taking it off road though Dinnu, with such a good paint job. Every panel is now painted better than Landrover painted them. I reckon after a few weeks of driving around on normal roads I will venture in to the hills in Perthshire, not so much shrubs and bushes up here, it’s more open hills and rocky / heather land. Hopefully the next photos will be of the fully rebuilt truck 2002 Td5 | 90 County Station Wagon | Oslo Blue 2006 Td5 | 90 County Station Wagon | Tonga Green (Gone ) 2002 Td5 | 90 County Station Wagon | Zambezi Silver (Gone) |

Another few steps closer, pretty much all rebuilt now on the front end. Just got the bumper to finish and refit. I did struggle with the choice of front end, wasn’t sure if we were going with black or Brunel silver. Having seen both I think the Brunel silver looks great against the finished blue paint work.
I have also decided to go with the standard lights and fitted some upgraded bulbs. I have an landreizeger loom on order and plan to fit a light bar behind the grille to make use of the already fitted factory spot light loom.
