Active cruise control.
Really very good! I had to take a motorway trip this afternoon and tried it, and the Lane assist out.

The active cruise is very easy once you have worked it all out. I love the way it turns into queue assist when things slow down.

Quite unnerving at first, it’s not easy to trust it’s not going to ram the car in front!

You just need to be aware, if you’ve got it set to 70 for example, and the traffic has slowed down for a while, the car will slow down with the traffic. When it clears your off, at a fair rate of knots! 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

I love it in the discovery, thought the defender had it...annoyed it didn’t, but the discovery is great especially in queues

Let's say you have set your active cruise control to 60mph. You are driving on a motorway behind another car and going 50mph because the car in front of you is in no rush. You want to overtake the car. Does the Defender's active cruise start accelerating immediately when you begin to indicate, or does it wait until the car has in front of you has been cleared (meaning the acceleration begins after you are completely in the overtaking lane)? it waits to accelerate until the space in from that you set for distance is empty - typically that would be when you have moved into the next lane (or part way through that move)

I have it on a VW and I hate it.

Not sure if the Defender does this, but my VW won't overtake on the inside so, due to the seemingly endless number of middle-lane drivers, my VW slows down to their speed.

So the only way to really use the adaptive cruise for a relaxing drive is to stay in lane 3.

And on A/B roads, the adaptive cruise does really odd things like slamming on the brakes when the car in front peels off. And every couple of weeks it'll slam on the brakes for no apparent reason at all (I got beeped by the car behind a few weeks ago - I assume they thought I was trying to cause an accident).

Ha. I've got it on my golf and love it. It makes motorway driving, and then queuing on the A40 a joy of sorts. It takes a bit of getting used to but I think it works really well.

The problem I have with Adaptive is that 50% of licence holders do not use it correctly and it makes them even more fully paid up members of the lane 2 owners club.
I once cruised past an AMG who was sat in lane 2 doing about 50 with a car in front, he had made no effort to move in to lane 3 but when the car in front moved to lane 1 he then accelerated with great gusto up to about 90 and sped away until he caught the next member of his club.

Roads way too twisty and busy around here for that with 6 limit changes on my 6 mile commute between farms.

Does it come with XS?
I have seen conflicting information - does the XS come with Adaptive Cruise Control (is that what you mean with Active Cruise Control)?

I’ve never used cruise control on a B road, too twisty for that. It’s only really motorways I use it. Also never had adaptive cruise control either. 24MY 90 D250 HSE, Tasman Blue
