This could be an interesting thread
I've no personal dealings with them, although their reputation seems pretty well known. And they arent alone in having a dubious past. Plenty of other examples out there. Personally, if they are on your doorstep, worth using them as a yard stick for what a dealers asking price will give you, but I think there is enough other options out there not to make them your sole choice, or even have to use them at all. Look at others like Marple Road, James French, etc. Again no personal dealings with either but cant say I've ever heard anything negative either. I'd agree , if Nene are close to you then nothing to stop you using them as a yardstick. Have a good look at their current stock - golden rule is have a really good look around and don't buy the first thing you see and build up your knowledge before parting with your hard earned cash. They are one of the more expensive dealers that are out there.
In my opinion you’d be better, for quality and price to buy from this forum. As this shows https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic75719.html Andy Last edited by landy andy on 8th Jan 2021 12:57pm. Edited 1 time in total |

Keith Gotts in Alton are very good.
Walton Motors in Cranleigh are ok but I'd say you need to know what you're looking at with their stock as they're not above tarting vehicles up to look nice. Keep an eye on the for sale posts here as you'll usually find well cared for enthusiast vehicles. From experience of a good friend, personally, I'd not touch Nene Underhand with a barge pole!
On a lighter note Welcome to Def2, a great friendly forum with lots of helpful advice. I'm afraid I'm not in your area so can't recommend any dealers. I've bought all my Defender privately, one through this forum, worth keeping an eye out and then getting a local mechanic to check them out with you. Good luck! Hi All
Thanks for posting your informative responses - post further searches today looks like finding rocking horse poo might be simpler than finding a Defender 90 (07 or earlier) Regards - Dave |

Second recommendation for T Elliot. I didn't buy from him in the end but a sensibly priced selection when I went and was very happy to talk to me and help.

Welcome LRNewbie
D2N can probably help you here... many have searched and read around before buying / joining and if as your site name states this in new territory then read on, there are various threads listing what to look for when viewing a used Defender (as they all now will be). First Question... roughly (don't be too specific) where in Berkshire are you A good Independent Service / Dealer may be of use to you either having or able to source your vehicle or (potentially) to inspect an option. Having said that you may be willing to travel to get the right one, I was surprised with the two Defenders I've sold where the buyers came from. Second Question... Do you know anyone personally that knows Land Rovers / Defenders if you do (lock down allowing) get them next to... inside and underneath anything you look at. Be in no rush... learn as you go, build a 'what to expect picture' to judge what comes up. Good Luck... SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |

I've not used Elliots, but I've never heard a bad word about them and they have some very nice Defenders indeed!!
CSK Automotive have just built them a beautiful Spectre 110!
