Half way through doing the rust preventative treatment on "JamesC" new 90. 4 hours on the underneath so far, and 1 hour on the engine bay last night. doors and doors pillars, bulkhead, hinges, capping's, vent spring clips, bezels, radiator brackets etc etc this afternoon and sealing any gaps on the capping's, window corners etc.

They always take 6-7 hours to do and I charge £150 for forum members, materials are about £135 and a donation will be given to the forum Thumbs Up If I do many more of these I'm going to get some proper breathing apparatus as a face mask is pretty useless for breathing all the chemicals in and some proper overhauls, I literally have to bath in white spirits to get it all off and a nice shower cap Embarassed as I have just combed out all my hair - it's like glue Sad It's a hell of a job, I wouldn't want to do it everyday Shocked I also do the interior nuts etc and seat brackets on the 110's but the 90's have less to treat...no middle seat frame to corrode Wink

This is James car delivered straight from the dealership yesterday - best way to get them and plough the good stuff in and onto it before the dreaded rust worm gets hungry Thumbs Up We must be getting near to the last of the 2.4's to arrive soon Sad

EDIT

The cappaings are not always a great fit, this one has quite a gap so sealant is a must but they are worth doing anyway as per the water ingress amnual Thumbs Up

The window corners usually have a bit of sealant hopelessly thumbed in during production, this one hasn't got anything at all....or didn't have until it was Zagged Very Happy

Touched up the waxoyl on the chassis, used the areosol one for this and must say it was ok. After 3 yrs the chassis is still looking quite good and really didnt need much. Main bit that needed done was the rear crossmember inside the wheeelarches. Life is not a rehearsal!

Took the monkey troop + mut geocaching around the local area for a couple of hours this afternoon.

Only just getting into this geocaching lark but there has to be a way of combining it with some green laning....

Anyone local'ish to me know if this has been done ? Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless.

There's a few along the Ridgeway although I think there are restrictions on various parts now preventing 4x4's & motorbikes from using it.

Muddy, they are 285s on 16x8 wheels with a +3mm offset (equivalent to having 30mm spacers).

I didn't wash it for 4 weeks... but then several people would ask what car I had, so I would say... and they would say- oh, the black one..... nope, the green one, lol. I have to admit I was lazy and got a team of 5 Greek guys to wash and wax it whilst I went off for a Maccy D's!!

Now I have a mission to get it dirty again Twisted Evil

No problem, a mobile service can be arranged, book me transport but it would have to be big as I have a lot of gear, err something like a stretched Limo would be ideal and some form of entertainment to keep me amused on the long journey Wink Whistle Plenty of bacon butties and tea whilst on the job and a Zagtastic 5 star hotel for the night PLEASE Very Happy Distance is no problem...for me Very Happy!!

Seriously, sorry I cannot be of more help mate, I'm not travelling in your area any time soon either Sad

Got back from a week's camping yesterday towing the Sankey and with the bike rack on the roof (a long way up).

Week before it was parked in a boatyard whilst we spent the week with the dog on a narrowboat Thumbs Up John

If that capping gap is as bad as it looks I'd have rejected the vehicle - before you say it yes I know full well the gaps are variable. Steve.

When I bought my 110 it came fitted with a LR roof rack but, for reasons that aren't clear, it only had four of the ten brackets holding it to the roof Shocked Anyway, I had a new set made by a local company out of stainless steel, which I've primed and painted black.

Original on the left and new stainless one of the right:

I fitted nine out of ten this morning, until rain stopped play Rolling Eyes Darren
