Best I’ve got at the moment is with Admiral Managed £850 with Admiral by losing the business use for me and my wife.
I was playing on LV’s website, and got quoted £470. That was with 10k miles and business use. However, it was on a 20 model year D240 HSE. They don’t have the 21 models on there website yet. Going to hit phone tomorrow. Got an NFU office in the village, so will call them too. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV 1966 S2a 109 aka Betsy 1968 S2a 88 aka Bob 2014 Jaaaag F Type 3.0 Supercharged. |

From what I read on Facebook some people are having trouble insuring the higher-spec models, with some insurers requiring extra trackers over and above the factory one.
I’m with Direct Line and they’ve quoted me about £150 to swap over to the new one. Equivalent annual premium about £450. |

I wouldn’t read too much into the upgrade price for insurance. I have friends who were charged £50 or so when they got a new car then their premium went through the roof on renewal.
It would be good to know how their brains (or algorithms) work? Is the new Defender insecure? Or at least more insecure than other marques? Range Rovers are stolen quite regularly and with the Defender totals it may be the green oval to some insurance companies is just plain toxic - through no fault of the new Defender it is being penalised through association with its stable mates? |

It's more likely that the glued aluminium unibody structure, together with crumple zones and lots of expensive electronics in the squishy areas means that repair bills will be horrendous, hence the hefty premia.

Got a sensible offer from LV. They will insure it, with business use, 10k miles per year, for £557.
They have not got the D300 on system yet, but used the P400 as a quote basis, and they said that’s a higher spec than the 300, so should be comparable. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV 1966 S2a 109 aka Betsy 1968 S2a 88 aka Bob 2014 Jaaaag F Type 3.0 Supercharged. |

My advise to anyone struggling with the 2021 models is to forget the online quote engines and speak to the insurers.

The new D200 (6-cylinder) wasn’t on Direct Line’s database either but she found it on the ‘new models’ list. I’d definitely want it insured against the right model.
Mine was quoted for 25k p/a, business use. But being a base model it’s value is many thousands less than those with high specs or bigger engines. A lower risk postcode makes the biggest difference I’ve found, once you get away from young driver status. |

I used to live out in Oodmorden and remember paying this one frequently (who wouldnt?) and always found myself saying "Why, just why?" To close this thread completely, I eventually went with NFU after phoning them. The car was not on the database at the time (Jan 21) so they agreed to issue a temporary policy based on a model that was on the list with a review date of 1st of June.
So they have reviewed it, and the 2021 110 D300 MHEV X Dynamic HSE 5 seat auto 2997cc is now on the system, and has unfortunately resulted in them having to increase my premium for the remainder of the year. 😖 The overall increase is a whopping £ 10.98. 😆 They have even put it onto the already interest free monthly payment. Happy days! 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV 1966 S2a 109 aka Betsy 1968 S2a 88 aka Bob 2014 Jaaaag F Type 3.0 Supercharged. |

I’ve been with NFU for my TDi300 for years and years, they also covered my Mini Countryman PHEV. In June last year I had renewed the Mini’s cover with them (in May 2020) then bought the Defender from dealer stock in the June and was amazed to get cheque from them when changing to the Defender! This year my premium went up by £50 short of the returned premium last year. I’m insured for 10,000 miles pa (had to increase it from the 5000 I had on the Countryman as I’m driving the Defender a lot more) no business use (just Social Domestic and pleasure) and I have off-road use as well. I used the local office to quote me initially but this year the renewal was handled by their central motor vehicle office over the phone. I paid £589 this year on a D240 First Edition with off-road use. I also get free breakdown cover and recovery from them. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed! |
