And in other news the 110 DCPU to Utility Wagon project progresses with my £89 eBay bargain 110 SW sides filled, faired and primed. I can recommend Duncan at Crieff Spray Shop. These had cut-outs for side and rear glazing and he did these for £180 a pop. I'm going to paint them grey in due course.

Just need to get the re-chassised 110 back from Tayside Land Rovers to start the project. Matthew - if you frequent these forums - here's hoping that Santa delivers Shocked

Oh - and new seatbelts to replace the ones that wouldn’t retract and got munched by the doors. New rear door trim has just arrived and is a Christmas present for my younger son, who hasn’t found this forum yet! Don’t ruin it and tell him that Santa doesn’t exist 🎅

For anyone vaguely interested the 90 went for its MoT yesterday. It failed on three items...

Hydrocarbon emissions
Leaky rear hub
Loose prop shaft (oops - hasn’t noticed that)

I’ve bought new plugs and leads as I think there’s a bit of a mis-fire (new distributor so it’s not that). Also bought some hub gaskets so I’ll try again in a week or two.

Wish me luck!

I never did get round to updating the thread with the 110 post. After a new galvanised chassis:

...we did some bodywork stuff:

And then some painting stuff:

And then I had a Disco 2 transfer box fitted and had a bit of a tweak from Empire tuning. It's running nicely but could really do with 4 new doors, lurking as rotting rust monsters under the grey paint. It will now cruise at 70mph and returns 35mpg. Result.

There are two panels without dents... the bonnet and the roof!

It’s night and day to drive. It will I think do much more than 70 but there’s no point in trying these days as the downside is too big, and to be honest with the dynamics of a 110 it’s probably pretty stupid. Relaxed cruising is the order of the day, and it does this all day long. Overtakes are now possible on A roads, but with good fuel economy at the same time. It’s not pretty close up but the Stornoway Grey is brown enough to look really smart and it’s a great livestock trailer puller. I can’t see myself selling this until they stop selling diesel so maybe this is my last ever car! I’ve had a few fast cars but this is much more enjoyable to drive as you have to work it... My 4th and last Defender?
