Not sure of the reasons why only the diesel six cylinder gets the new 4WD system - wouldn’t imagine it’s packaging since the P400 (which has to find room for turbo, supercharger and MHEV bits) keeps the fixed torque split. Maybe it will come for petrols too.

I don’t think the diff shows on that screen, the 20.5MY I drove back in August was the same. It shows on the centre screen though.

Might show if you’re in an off-road TR mode, I only drove it on the tarmac at that time.

As above I think when you put it in a TR setting it shows more. It does on the Velar at least.

Yup, can confirm that the Locks are only shown on the center screen.

But that's an interesting image Simon, The icons showing the peddle and breaks makes me think of the Energy harvesting the MHEV is supposed to do during breaking, but to be honest I have not found any features that relate to MHEV on mine?

just the MHEV system which so far as I can tell is basically a posh kind of start/stop.

True Retroanaconda, it just appears to be a very expensive Stop/Start system. Sad I really did expect to be rolling out the drive silently then power off up the road but engine kicks in straight away. What am I missing?

Thanks Digger2000,

So the Defender MHEV is nothing like the Evoque MHEV?

I must admit I was hoping I was being 'slightly' eco friendly, (just trying to redeem my years of driving the CSW V8 ) Wink but feel I have gone the other way! Twisted Evil 110 County Station Wagon V8

Which engine did you get in your car?

I think its similar to the Evoque

It uses the fancy starter to put back power.

But I think it does not shut off the engine at 11 MPH but lower like 1 or 2..

How much of what I have said is fact or fiction - I can not be sure... but thats the best I can piece together based on the limited and conflicting information out there.

Worse case the MHEV - would provide 12V instead of the alternator during acceleration - to remove that load.

It’s start/stop but with add-ons. The iGUIDE manual has detail of how the system works, it basically shuts the engine off at very low speed and can then use the motor/generator thing to get it going again very quickly.

Like most modern vehicle systems it will get turned off by most drivers as they’re nothing but annoying. Auto wipers and lights for example, and lane assist.

You have a link - because I can only find the 2020 version and that did not have the MHEV and even if I look on the 2021 Discovery I can not find it...

MANY THANKS

This is the one I got, scroll down to the Defender X and it states "3.0L PETROL MHEV P400 AWD AUTO"

Thanks Retro, just found the text in the iGuide under the "Auto Stop on the Move". Trying to move at less than 1mph is going to be tricky but will try it, but in all honesty that makes it pretty useless. 110 County Station Wagon V8

Hopefully it will cure the problem that other Land Rover cars have suffered with the “Low battery, start engine” message that was often not related to the main battery but the 2nd battery for the Auto Stop/Start that wasn’t charging properly. Now there’s no need for the 2nd battery - it’s become a big capacitor instead if being an accumulator? Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

There’s a 48V battery under the boot floor I believe, which I presume is the energy store for the MHEV system.

Mines due to arrive in the next few weeks so I’ll get some pics when it does.
