Boosts
Hi everyone,

The time has come to sell my 90 unfortunately as I'm soon to have nowhere to safely store it. I have a few odds and sods in the garage for it too which I need to sell on. Included in this I have a set of 5 genuine boost alloys in great condition, but being out of the loop for a while I have no idea of the value? What do they go for nowadays?

Also one of them is powder coated satin black and looks great, so I wasnt sure if it was worth doing the other 4 before sale. I got one done as a test to see how it looked and never got around to the others as other projects got in the way.

Cheers,
Lew

Generally, as Boosts are the standard alloy, they're not worth very much. I picked up a slightly battered set for refurbishment a few months ago for £150 although you sometimes see pristine ones advertised for twice that. The fact that you have one in an odd colour won't help your cause but the cost of having the rest coated may be more than you can sell the set for, unfortunately.

It's a shame as I happen to think they're better looking than most of those costing four or five times as much Confused Darren

Sold a mint genuine set of 5 today for £325, rims only. Guy who's bought them said they were cheaper than refurbing his which he plans to sell on once they are removed to recover some of the cost

That's always the conundrum. If you buy wheels to refurb with knackered tyres on then you (typically) have to pay to remove them before you can do anything else. Darren

I'd just like to say that I really like the boost alloys. They look rugged enough for a 4x4 which makes them extremely easy to clean. Just don't know why so many Defender owners want to change them Question Defender 90XS SW

To be different, because they can and occasionally to fit larger tyres. Darren

I agree. I love them. But don't have them....

In our case, I have a 110, my brother a 130, and the boosts aren't load rated for 130's. Thus my brother has the Terrafirma TF100's. Because we travel together, to keep the vehicles the same so we carry less spares, I swapped to them too so that we technically carry more commonality between us. I also like the way they look.

But I still love the boosts. They're still in my shed. Along with half the other bits i've taken off it from standard so that one day when i'm old and grey, if i want to, i can put it back to standard again. I never will. But it makes me feel better Rolling with laughter
