Insurance for appreciating defender? Gap? | |
Hi folks.
Just spent the day getting quotes together for the new defender 2010 CSW with 45k miles and no rust. No problem - my existing insurer (esure) turned out to be the cheapest of the non-specialist insurers.
But... prices to replace the vehicle from dealers have gone up even since I agreed the deal on mine. The cheapest comparable one on autotrader is now £5k more than I’ve paid.
I’ve had agreed value in the past... which is fine except the value increases every month so an agreed value today may still not be enough in 6 months.
So I’ve been looking at GAP policies as an added protection: I’ve found a few “replacement vehicle” options for not a lot that would take it right back up to the value I paid, but none that would simply pay me the value of a comparable vehicle from a reputable dealer in the future - the cost of replacement could easily double in price in the next 5 years.
Ha anyone found a solution to this? I’ve seen A plan mentioned a few times on here so I’ll give them a call for the main policy before I sign with esure.
